Music Welcomes Brian Owens as Artist in Residence

The Webster University Department of Music welcomes Brian Owens as Contemporary Artist in Residence this year.

The community is invited to join one of St. Louis' busiest musicians as he and special guests share knowledge and insight with students and the community in several upcoming events.

Owens, manager of the In Unison Chorus at Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, is a well-known international soul performer. (See his site at http://brianowenssoul.com.)

"Brian Owens will broaden our perspectives, give Webster students another voice as they build their lives in this gig economy, and bring deep local and national connections with him," said Jeffrey Carter, chair of the Department of Music in Webster's Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts.

Catch Owens at the following upcoming talks:

  • Monday, Aug. 29, 3 p.m.: with Adam Maness on "Hustle and Innovation" in the Community Music School, Room 10, 535 Garden Ave.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 6, 3 p.m.: with Peter Martin in the Thompson Music Building, Recital Hall
  • Thursday, Sept. 15, 12 p.m.: with Jahmal Nichols in the Thompson Music Building, Recital Hall
