First Generation Student Workshop SeriesWorkshops providing resources to first generation students

All first generation students are welcome to attend any or all of the upcoming workshops to better equip them for a successful academic experience at Webster. Some of the workshop topics include exploring major and post graduation options, learning about the GCP program, and learning strategies for financial decisions.

Webster defines first generation as any student whose parents did not graduate from a four-year college or university. 

Upcoming Workshops:

  • Major & Career Exploration -  This session will help students explore their options for majors and post graduation. It will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 3 p.m. in the East Academic Building, 102.
  • Sharing Our Stories - This session will provide an opportunity for students to share their stories with one another. It will be held on Sept. 26, at 3 p.m. in the East Academic Building, 253/262.
  • How Does Advising Work - This session will provide everything students need to know to get advised and registered for classes. It will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 3 p.m. in the East Academic Building, 253/262
  • Global Citizenship Program (GCP) Explained - This session will explain how the required GCP program works and why these courses are important for students' futures. It will be held on Oct. 10, at 3 p.m. in the Library Conference room.
  • How to Communicate with Faculty - Then session will teach students how to communicate with faculty in effective ways. It will be held on Tuesday, Oct.17, at 3 p.m. in the University Center Presentation room.
  • Key Webster Resources for First Generation Students - This session will allow students to discover some or Webster's key resources in an interactive way. It will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 3 p.m. in the Library Conference room.
  • Financial Decisions - This session will provide students with strategies for making good decisions about the financial aspects of education. It will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 3 p.m. in the Library Conference room.
