McConnell AFB Sponsors Events Celebrating Veterans, Supporting Women
Nov. 12, 2015
Webster University's McConnell Air Force Base campus location in Wichita, Kansas, was the proud sponsors of the Nov. 11 Wichita Thunder Veterans Day hockey game in the ECHL.
Military veterans were offered $2 specialty ticket pricing to the game against the
Tulsa Oilers. Webster staff, faculty, students and alumni enjoyed a thrilling overtime
shootout win by the Wichita Thunder.
McConnell AFB also proudly sponsors a popular fan promotion, the "sweet seat" upgrade, where two fans are selected each game to sit by the penalty box at the second and third intermission. Winners also receive a Webster University t-shirt.
McConnell AFB looks forward to sponsoring the Friday, Feb. 5 Thunder game in partnership with the American Heart Association (AHA) for "Go Red for Women" night. The month of February celebrates Women's Health Awareness. AHA created the "Go Red for Women," social initiative to dispel the myths and raise awareness of heart disease and stroke as the number one killer of women. The initiative is designed to empower women to take charge of their heart health.
Fans can get a free upper level ticket voucher that can be redeemed for a free upper level ticket or a chance to upgrade into the lower bowl. The players will also wear special jerseys that will be auctioned with the net proceeds benefiting AHA.
