New Dean of Extended Education Appointed

ST. LOUIS (MAY 22, 2014) - Thao Dang-Williams has been named dean of Extended Education for the St. Louis Metropolitan Region at Webster University. Dang-Williams served as Webster University’s interim associate vice president and director of online programs for the past year.

 “Thao’s extensive knowledge and experience in academia, coupled with her energy and enthusiasm, will help further elevate the educational mission and outreach of our St. Louis metropolitan campuses,” said Julian Schuster, the provost, senior vice president and chief operating officer for Webster University.  “As an academic, she understands faculty and students and the needs for academic excellence, while as an administrator, she understands the need for operational excellence including student services. Combined, her skills will lead to greater collaboration across the board, and ultimately will boost Webster’s already stellar reputation.”

In her new role, she will work with Webster University’s five schools and colleges to enhance student services, lead a coordinated enrollment effort and strengthen programs for both undergraduate and graduate students. She also will develop mutually beneficial educational partnerships with employers in the metropolitan area.

Dang-Williams has worked at Webster University since 2011, when she was hired as associate dean of the College of Arts & Sciences. Previously, she was the academic dean of Humanities and Social Sciences at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park. She was named as interim associate vice president in June of 2013 while the University started a nation-wide search for a permanent director.

Dang-Williams holds a doctorate in higher education administration from St. Louis University.
