Teaching Festival Preview: Building an Inclusive, Empowering Classroom

Faculty, students and academic partners are invited to attend a workshop entitled “Creating Meaningful Change: Building an Inclusive and Empowering Classroom Environment,” Friday, Feb. 17, noon-1 p.m. in the Library Conference Room (Library 120). In this hands-on session, participants will strengthen their self-awareness of how they approach diverse identities (such as race, socio-economic status, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, nationality, ability/disability, etc.) while developing strategies for communicating with all students in their classes.

Teaching Festival Preview: Faculty Workshop on Evaluating Student Work with Turnitin

Faculty, students and academic partners are invited to attend a presentation on “Evaluating Student Work with Turnitin” on Friday, Feb. 17, 1-2 p.m., in the Library Conference Room (Library 120). This presentation will show participants how to read and evaluate a Turnitin originality report accurately, how to identify instances of plagiarism, and how to help students avoid academic dishonesty.

Submissions Now Open for Freshman Writing Award Competition

Submissions are now being accepted for the annual Freshman Writing Award competition. Please consider nominating one or more of your student's papers for this award. Submissions must have been written for a class during the Fall 2016 semester, they may be in any genre, they must be a minimum of 500 words long, and they must be written in English.

Workforce Recruitment Program for Students, Grads with Disabilities

The government-wide workforce recruitment and referral program (WRP) connects federal employers nationwide with college students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to prove their abilities in the workplace through summer internships or permanent jobs. The goal is to increase the representation of persons with disabilities, especially severe disabilities, in the federal workforce. Webster candidates must apply by Oct. 12, 2016.

TAP Preps Incoming Students for Transition to College, Success at Webster

This summer Webster's Transition and Academic Prep (TAP) program assisted 37 new students for the transition to college academics and Webster University. Since 2011 this free program has helped almost 150 conditionally admitted students connect with the resources and tools they need to succeed.
