Student Success Portal Spring and Spring 1 Early Term Progress Survey launches Jan. 25

The Spring and Spring 1, 2019, Early Term Progress Survey will launch via the Student Success Portal on Friday, Jan. 25. This survey will be distributed to all Spring and Spring 1 U.S. on-ground and online courses and will be available for faculty to complete during a 10-day window that will close on Monday, Feb. 4.

Tutoring Resource Update, Chris Robinson Farewell

Chris Robinson's last day as Tutoring Program Coordinator in the Academic Resource Center (ARC) will be Friday, Jan. 11, as he leaves Webster to rejoin Teach For America full-time. After Friday, anyone with tutoring needs or questions should contact Carolyn Brown, ARC assistant director, until a new coordinator is named. Well wishers can say farewell to Robinson in the ARC, or by contacting via phone or email. He also continues to teach as an adjunct faculty member.

Student Success Portal, powered by Starfish, training is available by request at any time. Additionally, as scheduled training dates are determined, details will be posted in Training on the Student Success Portal website and announced via Webster Today. Many video tutorials and resources are also available in the For Students, For Faculty, and For Advisors & Staff areas of the Student Success Portal website. Overview flyers are also accessible in the For Students and For Faculty tabs. And, the FAQs section of the website contains valuable information.

Hopmann Moves into Permanent Academic ADA Coordinator Role

Chanelle (Nellie) Hopmann will move from her current interim role to a permanent one as the academic ADA coordinator effective Jan. 2, continuing her work with the Webster community to provide equal access for students with documented disabilities; promote a greater understanding of disabilities and accommodations; and coordinate efforts, statistics, and metrics regarding disabilities and accommodations.

The Academic Resource Center (ARC) encourages students to begin preparing for the end of the semester now. Students should make their testing, tutoring, and writing appointments well in advance to ensure that they get the assistance they need. All ARC services will be available through finals week (Dec. 17-21), and will close for Winter Break at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21.

Student Success Portal Fall Midterm Progress Surveys Launch Oct. 19

The Fall Midterm Progress Survey will launch via the Student Success Portal on Friday, Oct. 19, 2018. This survey will be distributed to all Fall semester-long U.S. domestic courses, on-ground and online, and will be available for faculty to complete during a 10-day window that will close on Monday, Oct. 29, 2018. Progress Surveys make reporting the academic progress of students easy and efficient by allowing faculty members to raise early alerts (Flags) for items and to provide positive feedback (Kudos) to students.

Cobos Appointed as New Writing Center Coordinator for ARC

Effective Wednesday, Oct. 3, Kristin Cobos will move into the full-time position of Writing Center and Online Writing Center Coordinator in the Academic Resource Center (ARC). Cobos will be meeting with many departments and individuals as part of her on-boarding and training process. Carolyn I. Brown, who previously filled the role, is now the Assistant Director of the ARC.
