Student Success Portal: Summer early term progress survey launches June 12

The Summer 2020 Early Term Progress Survey launches Friday, June 12, and is open for 10 days, closing Monday, June 22, at 11 p.m. CST. This survey is distributed to all graduate and undergraduate Summer term courses throughout the United States and at the Leiden campus as well as to undergraduate courses at the Tashkent, Uzbekistan, campus.

Slate CRM Goes Live June 15

Slate, the new customer relationship management (CRM) tool for undergraduate and graduate student recruitment, will launch on June 15. The Enrollment Management is beginning the process to switch everything from Recruiter to Slate this week. On Thursday, June 11, at 12 p.m. CDT, Recruiter will become unavailable for all prospective students and all staff. During the downtime, prospective students will be redirected to a maintenance page that informs them that our application system is undergoing an update. On that page they will be given the option of entering basic information if they wish to be notified when the system is operational and we can contact them.

Academic Resource Center Sees Increased Use of Key Services

The Academic Resource Center (ARC) offers a variety of services that are an excellent resource for students and faculty alike. Between the Fall 2018 and 2019 semesters, data has shown an increase in the usage of a variety of services. To ensure faculty members continue to get the most out of the center, there are resources available to help deepen their knowledge and even bring ARC staff to the classroom and share with students.

Advising Curriculum Series: How Students Can Take the Next Steps in Advising

The Undergraduate Team of the Academic Advising Center offers a second program for faculty advisors on Friday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. CT in East Academic Building Room 133 and via WebEx. "How Students Can Take the Next Steps in Advising" will cover what students can learn from advisors once they have mastered advising basics to get the most out of their education. Guests for the session include Kelly Heath, Silvia Navia and John Buck to discuss the ways different programs and credentials can complement students' major and interests.

The Fall 2019 Midterm Progress Survey launches Friday, Oct. 18, and is open for 10 days, closing Monday, Oct. 28, at 11 p.m. CST. This survey will be distributed to all Fall semester-long, graduate and undergraduate, U.S. domestic courses, on-ground and online. Faculty members are expected to complete their survey(s) during the 10-day window.

Academic Advising Center Staff Updates: Ord, Gygi, Steele

The Academic Advising Center welcomes Jennifer Ord as a new undergraduate academic advisor. She previously worked at the Scott AFB campus as a part-time academic advisor and faculty coordinator. Dinah Gygi, graduate academic advisor, is moving from a team appointment to a full-time role. Stop by the Center on Aug. 14 between 2:30-3:30 to say farewell to Genesis Steele, who is transitioning to a new opportunity outside Webster after three years on the graduate advising team.

Hands-on Faculty Training for Teaching and Learning Technology

All part-time and full-time new and returning faculty are invited to three hands-on sessions on Tuesday, Aug. 20, about using technology to support and engage students. Come learn how the Student Success Portal, Microsoft Office 365, and WorldClassRoom (Canvas) can help you support student success, engage your students in and out of the classroom, and collaborate and communicate with colleagues and students. All sessions will be held on Aug. 20 in the Library eClassroom (Emerson Library 110).

Grades for Undergraduate first 5-week session courses are due Friday, July 5. Grades must be posted by the end of the day July 5, and may not be left as In Progress (IP). Any Incomplete (I) grades posted must have the required accompanying paperwork submitted with them (see article for details and links).

Advising Excellence Award Winners, NACADA Certificate of Merit

The Office of Academic Affairs and the Academic Advising Center announce this year’s Advising Excellence Award winners. Terry Sullivan, assistant professor in the Communications and Journalism Department, and Amy Carroll, senior academic advisor on the Academic Advising Center’s Graduate Team for faculty and professional staff advising. Additionally, last year's winner Jordan Wienke was recently awarded with a Certificate of Merit of the Outstanding Advising Award – Primary Advising Role and will be recognized in October at the NACADA national conference.
