Student Success Portal Fall Midterm Progress Survey launches Oct. 18

The Fall 2019 Midterm Progress Survey launches Friday, Oct. 18, and is open for 10 days, closing Monday, Oct. 28, at 11 p.m. CST. This survey will be distributed to all Fall semester-long, graduate and undergraduate, U.S. domestic courses, on-ground and online. Faculty members are expected to complete their survey(s) during the 10-day window.

Academic Advising Center Staff Updates: Ord, Gygi, Steele

The Academic Advising Center welcomes Jennifer Ord as a new undergraduate academic advisor. She previously worked at the Scott AFB campus as a part-time academic advisor and faculty coordinator. Dinah Gygi, graduate academic advisor, is moving from a team appointment to a full-time role. Stop by the Center on Aug. 14 between 2:30-3:30 to say farewell to Genesis Steele, who is transitioning to a new opportunity outside Webster after three years on the graduate advising team.

Hands-on Faculty Training for Teaching and Learning Technology

All part-time and full-time new and returning faculty are invited to three hands-on sessions on Tuesday, Aug. 20, about using technology to support and engage students. Come learn how the Student Success Portal, Microsoft Office 365, and WorldClassRoom (Canvas) can help you support student success, engage your students in and out of the classroom, and collaborate and communicate with colleagues and students. All sessions will be held on Aug. 20 in the Library eClassroom (Emerson Library 110).

Incomplete Guidance: Undergrad first 5-week session grades due July 5

Grades for Undergraduate first 5-week session courses are due Friday, July 5. Grades must be posted by the end of the day July 5, and may not be left as In Progress (IP). Any Incomplete (I) grades posted must have the required accompanying paperwork submitted with them (see article for details and links).

Advising Excellence Award Winners, NACADA Certificate of Merit

The Office of Academic Affairs and the Academic Advising Center announce this year’s Advising Excellence Award winners. Terry Sullivan, assistant professor in the Communications and Journalism Department, and Amy Carroll, senior academic advisor on the Academic Advising Center’s Graduate Team for faculty and professional staff advising. Additionally, last year's winner Jordan Wienke was recently awarded with a Certificate of Merit of the Outstanding Advising Award – Primary Advising Role and will be recognized in October at the NACADA national conference.

ARC Policies, Guidelines Channel Now Available in Connections

Academic Resource Center (ARC) policies and guidelines may now be found in a newly created ARC Policies and Guidelines channel, accessible to Webster employees on the Faculty and Staff tabs within Connections. Current policies and guidelines available include ADA Procurement Process, Flexible Assignment Deadline Guidelines, Occasional Absence Due to Medical Reason Guidelines, Webster ESA (Emotional Support Animal) Policy and Contract, Webster SA (Service Animal) Guidelines, and Webster General Housing Accommodations Guidelines.

Janice Neal will serve as the CCME president for 2019-20.

Janice Neal Named CCME President for 2019-20

Janice Neal, director of the Webster Los Angeles Air Force Base campus location and regional director for the Western Region of military campuses, took office as president of the Council of College and Military Educators (CCME) during the organization’s annual symposium in Austin, Texas on Jan. 24. Neal has been actively involved in the CCME board since 2010. She previously held positions as CCME secretary, vice president, and is now president in 2019-20.

Student Success Portal Spring and Spring 1 Early Term Progress Survey launches Jan. 25

The Spring and Spring 1, 2019, Early Term Progress Survey will launch via the Student Success Portal on Friday, Jan. 25. This survey will be distributed to all Spring and Spring 1 U.S. on-ground and online courses and will be available for faculty to complete during a 10-day window that will close on Monday, Feb. 4.

VetSuccess Counselor Moving to Advising Center

Effective Oct. 23, VetSuccess on Campus (VSOC) counselor Jason Blakemore will be located in the Advising Center and Career Planning and Development Center in Garden Park Plaza. Student veterans may now check in with the Advising Center front desk for appointments. VSOC serves a vital role supporting our veteran population from the Webster Groves campus, providing various services to student veterans such as education and training opportunities, adjustment counseling to resolve problems, referrals to health and community services, assistance for other veterans benefits and a mentorship program.

Zlatko Cosic's films are part of a group exhibition, RE/CONSTRUCTING IDENTITY, running through Jan. 26 at Sheldon Galleries.
