Training sessions are being offered to more formally acclimate users to the current functionality. Advanced training has been scheduled for three key areas: advising tools, progress surveys, and advanced filters.

Advising Day was held at the Gateway campus on Wednesday, Oct. 11 where over 30 Webster colleagues gathered from across the network to discuss, learn, and promote high standards in academic advising. Following Webster Advising Day, they continued their professional development journey by attending the Global Community for Academic Advising Annual Conference (NACADA) held through Saturday, Oct. 14.

The new Student Success Portal launches on Oct. 16

The New Student Success Portal is Almost Here

October 09, 2017

The Student Success Portal, powered by Starfish, has its initial launch on Oct. 16! In this first phase, the focus will be on training our faculty, staff, and students on the benefits of this new shared technology. The rollout will include information about setting up profiles, understanding and submitting early alerts (Flags), providing positive feedback to students (Kudos), and connecting students to resources through their personalized success teams. In addition, training will focus on online appointment scheduling and shared advising notes.

Global Academic Advising Conference in St. Louis during Webster Advising Day

NACADA, the global community for academic advisers, is having its conference in St. Louis Oct. 11-14. Webster University will host an Advising Day for Webster advisers on Oct. 11, prior to the conference start. This is a great way for advisors and staff from St. Louis throughout the campus network to come together for a Webster-specific professional development experience.

Starfish Advising and Retention Gathers Information at Workshop

Advising and retention group Starfish returned to campus for a three day workshop to learn more about Webster University and our readiness, as an institution, to accept this new system and use it as a tool to help us achieve our student success goals as outlined in the strategic plan. The workshop consisted of focus groups, a leadership assessment and a workshop for colleagues to begin the work of building our system.

Registration for the seventh annual Global Citizenship Collaboratory (May 23-24) is now open. Faculty, students and academic partners are invited to visit the Collaboratory’s website and to register now. The annual Collaboratory provides a space for the Webster community to share research, collaborate across disciplines, strengthen assessment practices, and explore new directions related to teaching and learning.
