Josh Fleming Takes Gorlok Pride to World Series

Josh Fleming's amazing year took him from an undefeated Major League Baseball debut regular season all the way to the World Series. The pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays is the second player from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to be drafted in the MLB draft, and the first from Webster and the league to make the major leagues. Gorloks baseball coach Bill Kurich, who recruited Fleming to Webster, remembers the lefty as outstanding and humble: "He was one of the best pitchers in the nation, but he never thought he was too good for anything," Kurich said.

Linda Woolf's Webster Story Takes Alumna to Height of Her Field

Webster alumna, psychology professor and donor Linda M. Woolf (BA ’79) has achieved one of the highest lifetime honors in her field, earning the Charles L. Brewer Award for Distinguished Teaching of Psychology by the American Psychological Association/American Psychological Foundation. "I wouldn't be who I am today without my early years at Webster University," she recalled. "Webster was so much smaller decades ago! Nonetheless, the features that make the university special today were part of the college during that time."
