Incomplete Grade Guidance for Summer 2020

July 23, 2020

Effective June 1, 2020, the allowable timeframe for grades of Incompletes has changed to two terms following the course end date. Grades of Incomplete are an option that faculty may select to allow students to complete their work if the situation is appropriate. Per catalog policy, appropriate situations are those “where the student has satisfactorily completed major components of the course and has the ability to finish the remaining work without re-enrolling.”

New Starfish Functionality: Direct Links

The Student Success Portal, powered by Starfish, has new functionality – Direct Links. This functionality includes several features for students, faculty, and staff such as individual and/or service-based online appointment scheduling, personal and/or service profiles, navigation to the student Intake Form tab, navigation to the student My Success Network tab, navigation to the Progress Survey tab, and options to embed external links in various communications, such as flag, referral, and kudos messaging.

Incomplete Grade Guidance for Spring, COVID-19 Considerations

April 20, 2020

Though the university is not changing the policy or general guidance with regard to grades of Incomplete during the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been questions raised as to how to handle incomplete grades. As with all grading considerations for the University is encouraging faculty to be considerate of students’ situations and flexible where possible. Undergraduate and School of Education grades are due on May 15. All other graduate course grades are due May 22.

Webster Students Participate in the League of Student Advocates Conference

March 03, 2020

Students Larry Hearn and Travis Haughton attended the two-day League of Student Advocates (LSA) conference, a program of St. Louis Graduates. The LSA aims to inspire, advance, and/or defeat policy that impacts college access and affordability. Students participate in a full day of advocacy training followed by legislative meetings at the State Capitol. This year’s conference featured more than 120 students from colleges and universities across Missouri. Corey Hawkins, Transitions coordinator in the Academic Resource Center, served as a group leader during the conference and accompanied the students during meetings at the State Capitol.

Webster's Testing Center: Resources, hours and appointments

Writing Center Resources: Online and in-person

The Writing Center and Online Writing Center (OWC) provides students, faculty, and alumni with many types of writing support. Students get support and feedback on every step of the writing process, from brainstorming to how to use a citation properly, they also offer writing assistance through the OWC to graduate students, online students, or students at extended or international campuses. The Writing Center also has friendly coaches to give constructive, holistic feedback on all assignments.

ARC Announces Demo for Online Tutoring Program, NetTutor

The Academic Resource Center (ARC) is hosting a demo for a professional online tutoring program, NetTutor. The proposed partnership with NetTutor will supplement the current options within the Tutoring Program. An online demonstration showing of NetTutor is scheduled for Wednesday, March 27, from 3-4:30 p.m., in EAB 137. Anyone interested in joining the session remotely may join via WebEx.

Students should make their testing, tutoring, and writing appointments well in advance to ensure that they get the assistance they need. All ARC services will be available through finals week (Dec. 17-21), and will close for Winter Break at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21.
