Browning Hall, Arcade Building Recognized for Design, Architecture

Webster University's two most recent major construction projects have been recognized for their quality of design. Browning Hall, the Interdisciplinary Science Building, was recognized for its design excellence this year by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) St. Louis Chapter. The Arcade Building, home of Webster University’s Gateway Campus, was named the "best conversion or renovation project" by the St. Louis Business Journal.

Gateway Campus Arcade Hosts 16th Congressional Art Competition

President Elizabeth (Beth) J. Stroble joined Congressman William Lacy Clay on April 29 to honor 36 outstanding young high school artists representing 11 high schools in Missouri's 1st congressional district at the 16th annual Congressional Art Competition. This is the 16th year that Clay has hosted the Congressional Art Competition, and for the first time it was held in the gallery of the historic Arcade Building at Webster's Gateway Campus in downtown St. Louis.

BFA Exhibition Opening Reception April 29

The BFA Exhibition is an opportunity for the bachelor of fine arts majors emphasizing in both Studio Art and in Graphic Design to display their senior thesis work. This year the Department of Art, Design and Art History is excited to debut the exhibition at The Arcade Museum Gateway Campus in downtown St. Louis. The opening reception is Friday, April 29, 7-10 p.m. The Cecille R. Hunt Memorial Award for BFA in Art and the W. John Hilgert Award will be awarded that evening.

Gorlok Grind Cafe Grand Opening March 29

The Gorlok Grind, the new bookstore and coffee shop at the Gateway Campus in downtown St. Louis, is open for business and will hold a grand opening Tuesday, March 29. Giveaways and prize drawings throughout the day include a 20 percent discount on select items and refreshments. The Gorlok and Fredbird, the St. Louis Cardinals mascot, will be there for a ribbon cutting ceremony at 3 p.m. CJ Disck Jockey and Way Cool Balloons will be there from 4-6 p.m., when a drawing Cardinals tickets will be held.
