Webster Athletics Names Hall of Fame Class of 2020 Inductees

Webster University Athletics will place six new inductees into the Webster Athletics Hall of Fame during at the 2020 induction in February. This year's inductees are former student-athletes Greg Murphy (men's golf, 2003-06), Andy Rudroff (men's soccer, 2006-09), Craig Schaefer (baseball, 2008-11), Jenna Steiner Sladek (women's soccer, 2006-09) and Crystal Wilson Wurth (softball, 2001-02), as well as Niel DeVasto, longtime retired athletics administrator and former sports information director Niel DeVasto (1984-2017).

Women's Soccer Wins SLIAC Championship, Enters NCAA Tournament

After their 10th SLIAC tournament championship this past weekend, the women's soccer team learned its postseason destination and opponent on Monday afternoon. The Gorloks will head to Wheaton, Ill., this weekend to compete in the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship against Wheaton College at Joe Bean Stadium.

Women's Soccer Earns Team Pinnacle Award From United Soccer Coaches

Webster University's 2018-19 women's soccer team received the Team Pinnacle Award on Oct. 24 from the United Soccer Coaches (USC). The Gorloks were one of the 52 institutions and just one of 19 college programs that were bestowed the award by the organization. The Team Pinnacle Award was created by the USC to recognize teams for achieving a high level of fair play, educational excellence and success on the soccer field.

Men's Basketball Team Continues Tradition of Visiting River Roads Lutheran K-8 Students

On Oct. 4, the Men’s Basketball Team continued an 18-year tradition of visiting students at River Roads Lutheran School in Baden, Missouri. Accompanied by Kate Northcott, director of the Student Literacy Corps, Webster's basketball team members read to younger students, assisted them in the classroom and worked with older students, talking with them about planning for college and the future.

Women's Soccer Earns 20th Straight USC Team Academic Award

The 2018 Webster University women's soccer team has again earned the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Team Academic Award for the 2018-19 academic year. During the 2018 fall semester, the Gorloks had eight players named to the SLIAC Fall All-Academic Team and two players, senior defender Lilly Brauer and senior forward Melissa Kasper, both named to the NCAA Division III Scholar All-North/Central Region Team selected by the United Soccer Coaches as both Brauer and Kasper earned Second-Team honors.

Four Softball Players Named Easton/NFCA Division III All-America Scholar-Athletes

October 04, 2019

On Oct. 4, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association recognized four Webster University softball players as NCAA Division III All-America Scholar-Athletes for the 2018-19 season. In order to earn an All-America Scholar-Athlete honor from the NFCA, student-athletes must have posted a grade point average of 3.50 or better during the 2018-19 academic year to earn the All-America Scholar-Athlete honor.

Carl Walker Named Interim Women's Tennis Coach

Webster University Director of Athletics Scott Kilgallon has named Carl Walker as the interim head women's tennis coach at Webster University for the upcoming 2019 fall season. Walker becomes the 14th head coach in the 35-year history of the program. Walker, who was been involved with tennis locally in the St. Louis area for nearly 30 years, has served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Gorlok women's tennis program since 2014.

Volleyball Earns 11th Consecutive AVCA Team Academic Award

For the 11th consecutive year, Webster University has been recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) with a Team Academic Award for the 2018-19 school year. The Team Academic Award recognizes teams who have matched their dedication to the sport of volleyball with excellence in the classroom. Teams must maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative team GPA. During the recently completed 2018-19 school year, Webster's volleyball team compiled a 3.53 team grade point average.

Golf Team Earns Special Academic Recognition from GCAA

The Webster University men's golf team was one of only eight NCAA Division III programs to earn both an All-Academic Team honor as well as the prestigious President's Special Recognition from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Webster was the only school from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honored by the GCAA and one of only six schools from Missouri to earn a Team Academic Award and one of three Missouri schools to earn a President's Special Recognition.

Kurich Named Diamond/ABCA Division III Central Region Coach of the Year

Webster University Head Coach Bill Kurich was named the 2019 Diamond/American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) NCAA Division III Central Region Coach of the Year on Tuesday afternoon after leading the Gorloks to their fourth appearance in the Division III World Series. For Kurich, this year's honor from the ABCA is his fifth since becoming Webster's coach in 2007. He was also honored by the ABCA in 2008, 2012, 2013 and 2015.

Grobelny Named to Academic All-America Track/Cross Country Team

June 26, 2019

Webster University senior Anna Grobelny has been named to the 2018-19 Division III Google Cloud Academic All-America Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team selected by CoSIDA. She is just the fourth Webster student-athlete to earn Academic All-American honors from CoSIDA and the first since 2013. Grabelny graduated this spring with a degree in Biological Sciences and an emphasis on Research and Technology. She is one of 18 women on this year's Academic All-America Team to carry a 4.0 GPA.

Grobelny, Mitric Earn Google Cloud Academic All-District Honors

Webster University seniors Dimitrije Mitic (Belgrade, Serbia) and Anna Grobelny (Fenton, Missouri) were named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District 5 Teams for Men's and Women's Track/Cross Country, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). This Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances both athletically and in the classroom.

Jacob Ridenhour

Sophomore Jacob Ridenhour 2nd in the Nation in 200 Meter

May 26, 2019

Webster University sophomore Jacob Ridenhour capped off his outstanding 2019 season by finishing runner-up in the 200-meter dash at the 2019 NCAA Division Track and Field Championships. Ridenhour recorded a school record time of 21.07 to finish the race in second place and earn National Runner-up honors. Ridenhour is the first-ever All-American in men's track in Webster University history.
