Webster Student Selected in 5th Round of MLB Draft

Webster University junior business administration major Josh Fleming is in rarified air. The left-handed conference pitcher of the year had his name called in the fifth round of the Major League Baseball draft, when he was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays on June 13. The 139th pick overall, he was just the second SLIAC player ever selected in baseball's annual draft.

Cardenas Selected for NCAA Career In Sports Forum

Webster University senior student and softball team member Karissa Cardenas has been selected to attend the NCAA Career In Sports Forum. This is the eighth year the NCAA has invited student-athletes with an interest in working in the sports industry to attend the forum. Cardenas will be the lone representative from St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools.

Baseball Players Earn All-American, Pitcher of the Year Honors

Webster University students Josh Fleming and Kyle Uhrich have received national recognition for their performances on the baseball field this past season. D3baseball.com has named Fleming the 2017 Pitcher of the Year, as well as placing him on their All-American First Team; Uhrich was named a Third Team All-American for a second straight year. Additionally, the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-America Team named Fleming a First Team selection at pitcher and Uhrich a Second Team choice at utility.

Webster Golf Makes History by Advancing to NCAA D-III Championship Finals

The Webster University golf team made the cut for the finals of the NCAA Division-III Championships, shooting a second round 315, on Wednesday, May 17, at the Mission Inn Resort & Club, in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL.  For the first time in team history the Gorloks advanced to the 3rd and 4th rounds, keeping alive their quest for a national title.

Webster SAAC and FCA Sponsor Division III Week

The Webster University Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) are sponsoring events for Division III Week, April 3-7, with a week of events to engage the community in celebrating D-III sports. From watching the NCAA basketball championship while getting a massage and eating free pizza, to a pool party with free Chick-fil- A, there will several fun activities, a collection drive for an alumna-founded nonprofit, and a free raffle for Cardinal tickets.

Webster Inducts 2017 Athletics Hall of Fame Class

The 2017 Webster University Athletics Hall of Fame class was inducted in a Feb. 4 ceremony as part of a "pack the house" weekend coinciding with men's and women's basketball games on campus. Scott Kilgallon, director of Athletics, along with Webster University President Elizabeth (Beth) Stroble and Athletics coordinator Amy O'Brien, presented the inductees and award winners.

Pack the House for Gorloks Basketball, Alumni Hall of Fame on Feb. 4

It's time to pack the house: Come cheer current students, salute the 2017 Hall of Fame class, and wear your blue and gold on Feb. 4 as the women's and men's basketball teams face off Iowa Wesleyan. Women's Basketball begins at 1 p.m. and men's begins at 3 p.m. Giveaways and snacks will be provided in the Athletic Lobby during the women's halftime and between the games.

Webster to Host 2017 NCAA Baseball Championships

The 2017 Central Regional will take place at in Sauget, IL, on May 17-20, with the winner advancing to the NCAA World Series in Appleton, WI. This will be the second straight year Webster has hosted the Central Regional. The Webster University baseball team has advanced to the NCAA III World Series three of the last five years, and has won 10 straight St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season titles.

Women's Soccer Wins Ethics and Sportsmanship Award for 5th Straight Year

Adding to its 17th consecutive Team Academic Award, the Webster University women's soccer team has earned its fifth consecutive National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) 2016 Silver Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award. The Gorloks were the only team in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to qualify for the award.

Webster Athletics Announces 2017 Hall of Fame Class

Webster University and Director of Athletics, Scott Kilgallon, are pleased to announce five Gorlok greats as the newest members of its Athletics Hall of Fame. The 2017 inductees include the two most prolific scorers in Webster women’s soccer history, a first-team All-American pitcher, one of the top scorers in men’s basketball, and a Josten’s Trophy national finalist.

Kilgallon Joins NCAA Faculty Athletics Rep Committee

Webster Director of Athletics, Scott Kilgallon, has accepted a position on the newly formed NCAA Division III Faculty Athletics Representative Engagement Working Group. The charge to create the working group comes from the NCAA DIII Management Council. The goal of the committee is to increase the engagement of Division III Faculty Athletics Representatives (FARs) at the institutional, conference and national level.
