Sophomore is 1st Gorlok to Qualify for NCAA Outdoor National Championships

Webster University sophomore Jacob Ridenhour made history Saturday morning as he became the first-ever Gorlok track and field athlete to qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. Ridenhour qualified in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes and is one of eight student-athletes to qualify in both of those sprints at this year's Outdoor National Championships, which will be held in Geneva, Ohio, May 23-25.

Webster Wins Third Straight, 18th All-Time SLIAC All-Sports Trophy

Webster University continued its dominance of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Sports Trophy by capturing the 2018-19 award for the third consecutive season, as announced Tuesday during the SLIAC Awards Banquet. Webster has now won the SLIAC All-Sports Trophy 18 times in the 21-year history of the award, including 14 times in the last 15 years. Among the Hall of Fame inductees were former Gorlok men's soccer coach Marty Todt '92 and former women's basketball player Angie Carr '05.

Student Athletes Honored at Annual Gorlok Awards Banquet

Webster University Athletics honored its senior student-athletes on April 28 at its annual Athletics Banquet. This year introduced a new "ESPY-style" ceremony that would involve several new awards being created and handed out, along with the department's traditional awards that are awarded annually. Students were given the red carpet treatment before being handed awards for a variety of achievements. They also had their hard work put on display in a highlight reel.

Six Gorlok Athletes Selected for All-SLIAC Women's Tennis Teams

Webster University was well represented on the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) 2019 All-League Teams for women's tennis on Wednesday afternoon. On the All-SLIAC Teams for women's tennis, Webster had a total of six players named to one of the leagues two teams, including three First-Team selections that were voted on by the head coaches.

Men's Golf Three-Peats as 2019 SLIAC Champion

Congratulations to Webster’s Men’s Golf team who won their third consecutive SLIAC league title on Tuesday at Weaver Ridge Golf Club. The team won by 73 shots over runner-up Fontbonne. At this year's SLIAC Championships, the Gorloks carded a 25-over 889 as a team for 54 to win its third consecutive and ninth all-time SLIAC title and also earn a return trip to the NCAA Division III National Championships in mid-May in Kentucky.

Carr, Todt To Be Inducted into SLIAC Hall of Fame

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced the members of their 2019 Hall of Fame Class. This year's class of inductees includes former Gorloks as two of the three members. The league has selected former Webster women's basketball star Angie Carr (2001-05) and former Webster men's soccer coach Marty Todt (1988-12) for induction. Inductees will be honored during the league's annual Awards Banquet, which is scheduled for May 14.

Webster Wins Advertising Awards for Recruitment, Branding, Conservatory

Webster University's Global Marketing and Communications unit has earned nine more advertising and marketing industry awards for advertising and print production for admissions and recruitment, institutional branding, and the Conservatory of Theatre Arts. The awards for 2018 activities were received from the SIAA, Collegiate Advertising Awards and the Educational Advertising Awards.

Watts Named Finalist for Ann Lebedeff Leadership Award

Webster University senior, Madison Watts, has been selected as one of four national finalists for the 2019 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Ann Lebedeff Leadership Award, the organization announced on Monday. The ITA Ann Lebedeff Leadership Award, which is endowed by Billie Jean King, was created to honor a recent college graduate who played college tennis and demonstrated excellence on and off the court, leadership on his or her team as well as on his or her college campus and in his or her community.

Webster students do great things every day. To recognize their accomplishments and connect their stories of success to our institution’s key stakeholders, the University has implemented the Merit Pages system to showcase the success of our students. A live tutorial is the best way to illustrate how Merit could be implemented. Patrick Giblin, director of Public Relations, will demonstrate the Merit system on March 19 and March 27 for faculty and staff, and provide information on how to get started.

Special Diversity and Inclusion Shirt to be Handed Out at Weekend Basketball Game

The Webster University women’s and men’s basketball teams will be celebrating Black History Month by throwing out special t-shirts during the home doubleheader with Greenville University at Grant Gymnasium on Saturday, Feb. 16. The women’s game will tip-off at 1 p.m., with the men’s game to follow at 3 p.m.
