Community Music School Awarded NEA Grant for Preparatory Program

The National Endowment of the Arts (NEA) has awarded a grant of $15,000 to The Community Music School of Webster University (CMS) in support of its Preparatory Program for outstanding young music students. Grant funds will help cover the costs of Prep activities in 2017 including coaching, master classes and events that showcase the skills of our young chamber music performers.

CMS Spring New Student Registration Jan. 7-12

The Community Music School of Webster University offers one-on-one instruction on all instruments of the band and orchestra, piano, guitar, harp, and voice, at three St. Louis locations. Students of all ages and ability levels can be matched with one of the 100 master music teachers during Spring New Student Registration Jan. 7-12, for the semester running Jan. 17-June 5.

Enrollment for the Spring 2017 Kindermusik and Music for Little Mozarts (keyboard) classes is now open at the Community Music School of Webster University. Open to children age's birth-6 years old, their music-and-movement activities are carefully and creatively designed to enhance cognitive, language, physical, creative, and social-emotional development.

Community Music School Hosts 1st 'Make Music Day St. Louis'

Webster's Community Music School is one of 18 venues participating in the first Make Music Day St. Louis on June 21, presenting the After Hours Community Band in concert at 8 p.m. in the CMS Concert Hall. Join for summer fun with concert band music from the traditional to marches, musicals, jazz and patriotic. Make Music Day St. Louis is a city-wide celebration of music on the summer solstice. All concerts and events are free and open to everyone.

Audition Applications Accepted for CMS Orchestras and Ensembles

Audition applications for the 2016-2017 orchestras and ensembles are being accepted. Band and string students ages 7 years through high school are encouraged to apply and audition for the Community Music School (CMS) of Webster University's orchestras or ensembles including String Ensemble, String Orchestra, Young People's Concert Orchestra, Young People's Symphonic Orchestra, Music Today!, Preparatory Program (chamber music), and Percussion Ensemble and the High School Jazz Ensemble.

Students of all ages and ability levels can be matched with one of the 100 master music teachers during New Student Registration for the Summer semester June 4-9. The summer semester for Individual Lessons runs from June 18 through Aug. 1.

CMS Presents Yesterday's Students, Today's Artists

The Community Music School (CMS) at Webster University will host an evening featuring some of St. Louis's premiere musicians on Friday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. at the Community Music School Concert Hall. This recital celebrates the legacy of the CMS and Webster's alumni who are now professional teaching artists at the CMS.
