Webster Dance Students Perform at ACDA Gala

Seventeen Webster Dance students attended the American College Dance Association's (ACDA) Central Regional Conference at Missouri State University in Springfield, March 13-16. Amongst the lectures and workshops the students attended, two dance pieces, choreographed by graduating seniors Jaqueline Edwards and Megan Reed, were presented and selected to be performed at the closing gala concert for the conference.

Department of Dance Presents 'Inbetween', a BFA Choreographic Concert

Webster University’s Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts Department of Dance presents 'Inbetween'. The concert showcases original choreography of senior BFA candidates Jaqueline Edwards, Claire Francescon, Megan Reed, and Dorianne Thomas. 'Inbetween' runs Dec. 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m. as well as Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. The performance is located in Webster’s Stage III, the lower level of Webster Hall, 470 E. Lockwood Ave. The concert is free and open to the public, however, donations are accepted.

Webster Dance Hosts Guest Choreographer Cleo Parker Robinson

Webster University's Department of Dance will host guest choreographer Cleo Parker Robinson on Feb. 28 for an open rehearsal and an artist conversation on "Race and Gender in the Dance World." The events are free and open to the public, co-sponsored by Webster's Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies Committee and the Department of Dance.

Webster Dance Presents 'New Works' Concert Nov. 9-11

Webster University Dance faculty, alumni, and students collaborate to present New Works Dance Concert 2017. The concert features the creative work of Webster Dance faculty and alumni and is performed by Webster Dance students. Performances are Thursday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. at Stage III on Webster's main campus.

BFA Dance Concert 'Layers' Showcases Original Choreography

Webster University’s Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts Department of Dance presents Layers. The dance concert showcases the original choreography of senior Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Dance candidates Gabriella Farrell, Nicole Kennett, and Isabelle Lande. Hannah Price is a self-interdisciplinary major who is also creating work in the concert. Layers runs Thursday and Friday, Oct. 12-13, at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. The performance is located in Stage III, the lower level of Webster Hall. The concert is free and open to the public, though donations are accepted and appreciated.

The Department Of Dance in Webster Univesity’s Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts will host nationally renowned dancer, professional choreographer and master teacher Stephanie Martinez on March 1 from1-2:30 p.m. in the Jean and Wells Hobler Center for Dance in the Loretto-Hilton Center. Martinez will discuss her career in dance and in particular, her experience in the field as a Hispanic woman.

Thirty other colleges and universities from across the region joined them for daily dance technique classes, discussions and presentations, and performances followed by feedback sessions.

Webster University’s Department of Dance presents, “A Conversation with Sally Bliss,” the internationally renowned ballet dancer, coach and master teacher, who will observe a ballet class and discuss her global career in ballet including her experience working with legendary choreographer Antony Tudor. The event Wednesday, Feb. 10, from 12-2:20 p.m. in the Jean and Wells Hobler Center for Dance, is made possible through the Faculty Speaker’s Committee, the Department of Dance, and the Dance Club.

Spring Choreography Residency: Roxane d'Orleans Juste

The Department of Dance hosted Roxane d’Orleans Juste with the José Limón Dance Foundation, Inc. for a 10-day residency Jan. 15-24. Juste gave an audition and master class in preparation for Webster University Dance Ensemble’s Spring Concert. A reception and viewing of the piece is open to the Webster community Sunday, Jan. 24 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the Loretto-Hilton Center Jean and Wells Hobler Center for Dance studios and lounge.

Radio Legend Johnny Rabbitt Promotes 'Dance Through the Decades'

The all-day "Dance Through the Decades" event will celebrate the centennial through the language of dance with a variety of performers, lectures and other interactive events. One presenter will be Ron Elz, the radio legend marking his 61st year on the air, will present on "the teen scene" of the '50s and '60s.
