Professor's 'Palacios' Wins Film Awards Across the U.S.

"Palacios," a film produced and shot by David Rocco -- with some help from the dog, Ingebar --in the Webster University School of Communications, continues to win awards after screening at 15 festivals across the United States, and has been acquired for distribution. The feature about a widow and an inner-city teen recently received Best Narrative Feature and Best Cinematography for a Narrative Feature at Cincinnati's Over-the-Thine International Film Festival.

Webster Students, Alumni, Faculty in St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase

Webster students, alumni, and faculty make up more than a quarter of the screenings at the upcoming St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase. All work, including work by 30 Webster community members, will be shown at Brown Hall on the campus of Washington University between Friday, July 13, and Sunday, July 22. “This is another example of how much the Webster University School of Communications adds to the culture of filmmaking and media in this region," said Aaron AuBuchon, associate professor and chair.

Photography Professor's Mother Teresa Photos in Vatican Exhibit

Photos Bill Barrett shot of Mother Teresa nearly 40 years ago have been selected for an exhibit organized by the U.S. Embassy to the Vatican, currently running and viewable online. The exhibit notes Barrett's role as professor at Webster University in the School of Communications, but the photos themselves date back to his time in New York working with New York Catholic Worker and Dorothy Day.
