Chakaryan Discusses Counseling, Ethics in Armenia

Hasmik Chakaryan traveled across Armenia this summer as part of work with a Webster University Faculty Research Grant she received for 2018-19. During the trip, Chakaryan held two workshops, the first on clinical counseling and a second on the need for and importance of a Code of Ethics in Armenia. The workshops drew public attention to these topics, including a live television interview (conducted in Armenian) that is now available on YouTube.

The Office of the Provost and the Office of Academic Affairs are now accepting applications for Faculty Research Grants for the 2019-20 academic year. This program encourages and promotes faculty research and professional development. Grant applications are invited for scholarly research, academic projects, artistic performances, exhibitions and studies in any discipline. Proposals that might lead to external funding are encouraged. Apply by 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2.

Provost's Faculty Research Grant Session: Learn from Successful Projects

Join Jeffrey Carter, Michael Hulsizer, Eric Goedereis, Ravin Kodikara and Ece Tuncel for a panel discussion about faculty research projects and the role the Provost’s Faculty Research Grant played in helping faculty members advance their scholarly work on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 3 p.m. in the Faculty Development Center (Emerson Library 420). This session is an opportunity for faculty members who are considering applying for a grant to learn more about successful projects and the impact they have had on the scholarly work of those who received them.

Faculty Research Grant: Kaiser observes EnglishWorks project in Brazil

Associate professor DJ Kaiser recently completed his Faculty Research Grant activities in Brazil, spending more than three weeks in Rio de Janeiro observing classes in a project called EnglishWorks, managed by Sequoia Foundation, which partners with various public entities in the city of Rio to provide free English language classes in areas of critical need.

Faculty Research Grant: Kaiser in Uruguay

DJ Kaiser is currently in South America on a Faculty Research Grant conducting preliminary research for a U.S. Fulbright Scholars Grant. During this trip, Kaiser has been focusing on getting a clearer picture of Ceibal en Inglés, a program used to deliver English language classes to fourth through sixth grade elementary school classrooms, and English language teacher and teacher preparation in Uruguay.
