'Meet the Artist' Series Forges Bonds in Geneva Community

Fifteen visual artists are presenting their work to an audience of the campus community and local guests as part of the second season of Webster Geneva's "Meet the Artists" series. Apart from providing a platform for visual arts and outreach to the local community, the series was also created to enhance the potential of students to think in critical, creative, and cross-disciplinary ways. "Campus response has been tremendous," says Dr. Julianna Sandholm-Bark. "It has definitely created some interesting conversations."

The entire Webster University community is invited to review videos, handouts and presentation resources from the eighth annual Global Citizenship Collaboratory. The May 21-22 event brought guests from Webster’s international campuses and over 80 faculty, staff and students participating. Highlights included sessions on teaching GCP skills such as oral communication and critical thinking, and plenary activities related to assessment, planning, student success, and Webster’s technology ecosystem.

GCP Collaboratory: Opportunities to Join Remotely

Scholars Learning Community Presents at the Association for General and Liberal Studies Conference

Former Scholars Learning Community members Katie Fields and Megan Schramm explained how they used observations to form patterns and draw conclusions to attendees of Webster University’s panel at the Association for General and Liberal Studies in Memphis in late September.  They conducted an exercise using several demographic, historical, and specialized maps of Memphis so that attendees could replicate their experience in their First Year Seminar of exploring a community.

GCP Keystone Course Examines Contemporary Slavery, Human Trafficking

May 30, 2017

As part of their Global Citizenship Program keystone course, "Contemporary Slavery and Human Trafficking," students at Webster Geneva reflected on the forms of modern slavery and how it is often hidden in plain sight. Their class final project examined different aspects of slavery in the supply chain to inform -- and surprise -- the campus community about the kinds of products they consume that are supported by slave labor.

GCP First Year Seminar Substitute Course for Transfers, Online Students

April 04, 2017

An eight-week online course, "GLBC 1210: W1: Gateway Seminar to the Global Citizenship Program in Online Environments," has been developed to address the same core skills that are components of the First Year Seminar Program. This seminar is not an option for on-campus, first semester, first year students, but will meet degree requirements for transfer students, fully online undergraduate students, and undergraduates who did not pass their First Year Seminar course.
