Wellness NO-vember Impact: Reflections, survey results, drawing winners

During Webster Wellness' NO-vember initiative, participants received a success tracking survey via email. In the final NO-vember survey, 100 percent of participants said they were at least somewhat successful in reaching their goals and 30 percent felt that they were definitely successful. Tuition Exchange Program Application and Renewal Deadlines Fast Approaching

In addition to Webster Tuition Remission, the university offers two programs where dependent children of full-time Webster employees may be eligible to apply for scholarships at other higher education institutions: the Tuition Exchange, Inc. (TE) Program and the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) Tuition Exchange Program.

Retirement Celebration for Fyfe, Rein, Schmutz

The Webster University community is invited to a retirement celebration for three longtime members of the leadership team who are retiring at the end of 2017. Join us Dec. 18, 2-4 p.m. in the Edward Jones Commons, to celebrate Brenda Fyfe, dean of the School of Education, Laura Rein, dean of University Library, and Betsy Schmutz, associate vice president and chief human resource officer, on a collective 72 years of service to Webster.

Webster Wellness NO-vember Midpoint Results

The Webster Wellness Committee's NO-vember initiative encourages setting personal, realistic goals and tracking progress made over a four-week period. The Committee is thrilled with participation in the first ever NO-vember! The 60 total participants consisted of 70 percent staff, 22 percent faculty, and 8 percent students. Each of the seven categories was selected by participants, but the most common selections were physical (40 percent), emotional (21 percent), and spiritual (13 percent).

Webster University recognized its loyal supporters at the Donor Recognition Dinner on Nov. 9 in the Starlight Room at the Chase Park Plaza. Highlights of the event included honoring Arden and Harry Fisher with the 2107 Visionary Award for their dedication to the Community Music School, inspiring hundreds of young musicians.

The Paid Parental Leave Policy becomes effective Jan. 1, 2018.

New Paid Parental Leave Policy for Full-Time Staff, Administrators

A new Staff and Administrator Parental Leave Policy will become effective Jan. 1, 2018. at U.S. locations. This follows a Webster Staff Alliance Compensation Committee request that administration consider implementing such a policy, and a task force working through the summer and early fall to research similar policies and recommend a policy for Webster. NOTE: Because benefits under this policy may run concurrent with short term disability benefits, it is important to review the policy while you are also eligible to enroll in those benefits in the current enrollment period through Nov. 15.

Light the Night Exceeded Last Year's Donation Total

Webster Wellness thanks 26 generous employees and students who donated last week to Light the Night to Cure Cancer, sponsored by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We exceeded last year’s total by raising $665 to contribute to this effort to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and improve the quality of life of local patients and their families.

Message on Title IX Enforcement and Sexual Misconduct

On Sept. 22, the U.S. Department of Education rescinded two directives on how to handle sexual violence and sexual misconduct that had been issued during the Obama administration. The federal government also issued new guidelines to be used while it develops new regulations to support Title IX. Webster University is committed to preventing sexual assault, harassment, discrimination and other forms of sexual misconduct. We want to assure our community that Webster's policy on Sexual Assault, Harassment and Other Sexual Misconduct will not be weakened by on-going reviews and reviews of this new guidance.
