The Information Technology department can find itself frustrated with foreign locations and governments that may seem at odds with our established IT policies and procedures. Academic Technology Request Deadline for Spring 2018 is Nov. 15

In order to manage a growing catalog of software titles, Webster University’s Information Technology organization will assess all new software requests based on a number of factors in coordination with the programs of each school. These factors include: the product life cycle, the vendor’s support structure for the software, compatibility with Webster’s PC/Mac platforms, and the product’s global roadmap, among other considerations. This is in alignment with the themes of the University’s strategic plan, Global Impact for the Next Century.

Cloud-based Storage - Google Drive Sync Client is Being Retired

September 18, 2017

Google will discontinue support for the Google Drive sync application on Dec. 11, 2017, and will fully retire it on March 12, 2018. For those who use the Google Drive sync client, other solutions will need to be considered. One option already provided to the community is Microsoft OneDrive, a university-wide cloud storage and sharing solution that is part of the Office 365 suite.

General Data Protection Regulation Training Session Sept. 25

The University has been working to assess its compliance with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation. We invite you to attend the Webster GDPR Training Session on Monday, Sept. 25, from 8-9:30 a.m. Project team members are encouraged to attend in person at the Library Conference Room; others are free to join or view online. Eclipse Brings Out the Photographers Among Us

August 31, 2017

The solar eclipse brought almost 1,000 people out to the home campus. It also brought out the inner photographer among faculty and staff. In addition to the stunning shots captured by Inocencio Boc, manager of photography services in Global Marketing and Communications, faculty and staff took their turn capturing and sharing photos. Kristi Lenz in Information Technology took a vacation day to capture the day’s magic, with her submission included in Google’s Eclipse Megamovie 2017. Walker School faculty member Tad Biggs' shot is up for a vote at stltoday.

New Version of Webster Alerts Launches This Week

August 01, 2017

Beginning today, community members will receive an e-mail announcing the updated version of Webster Alerts, with instructions on how to make sure you receive these alerts on your cell phone or another email address. Webster Alerts the primary messaging system for letting students, faculty and staff know when there is an emergency on or near campus, or to notify of campus closures caused by severe weather, power outages or other factors.

Webster Prepares for EU's General Data Protection Regulation

Webster University is in the process of reviewing and updating its business processes to comply with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The law is a sweeping new regulation addressing the handling of personal data and documentation of such processes. Though work is already underway, reaching compliance will be a major project affecting all units throughout the University's global network.
