New Version of Webster Alerts Launches This Week

August 01, 2017

Beginning today, community members will receive an e-mail announcing the updated version of Webster Alerts, with instructions on how to make sure you receive these alerts on your cell phone or another email address. Webster Alerts the primary messaging system for letting students, faculty and staff know when there is an emergency on or near campus, or to notify of campus closures caused by severe weather, power outages or other factors.

Webster Prepares for EU's General Data Protection Regulation

Webster University is in the process of reviewing and updating its business processes to comply with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The law is a sweeping new regulation addressing the handling of personal data and documentation of such processes. Though work is already underway, reaching compliance will be a major project affecting all units throughout the University's global network.

Upgrades to Webmail Scheduled June 30

In order to provide a better user experience and handle the increased traffic for accessing web-based email as we continue to enhance our services, Information Technology will be upgrading the hardware and software version currently running the Webmail application on Friday, June 30, 8 p.m. Central. There may be a brief 30-minute outage of Webmail during this change.

Summer/Fall 2017 Software Deadline April 17

March 21, 2017

The lab and multimedia classroom software request deadline for Summer/Fall 2017 is Monday, April 17. The University’s IT organization will assess all new software requests based on a number of factors in coordination with the programs of each school. These factors include: the product life cycle, the vendor’s support structure for the software, compatibility with Webster’s PC/Mac platforms, and the product’s global roadmap, among other considerations.

After months of collaborative work from staff in Leiden and across the network, Webster University the Netherlands has relaunched its website with the aim of enhancing the user experience and providing visitors with an easier way to learn about Webster University, the only American university in the Netherlands.

Muthukumaru Named Interim CIO

Learn more about Margie Muthukumaru, Webster’s director of enterprise information systems, who will serve as interim chief information officer effective January 2017. Muthukumaru joined Webster in 2010 and has led enterprise information systems. She has served on a number of leadership bodies with Webster, including the Strategic Plan Steering Committee.

Freeman Named Client Executive Partner with Gartner

Webster University Vice President and Chief Information Officer Kenneth Freeman has been named to the position of Client Executive Partner with the technology research and strategy firm Gartner, Inc. Freeman will be with the University through the end of December. Margarita Muthukumaru, director of enterprise information systems, will serve as interim chief information officer after Freeman’s departure.
