Webster at Churchill Downs: 100 alumni, faculty, staff, Sisters of Loretto gather

Webster University alumni, faculty and staff gathered together for an afternoon of horse racing fun at the annual Churchill Downs event in Louisville, Kentucky, on June 10. Over 100 representatives of the Webster community attended, including alumni from Florida, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Tennessee, in addition to those from the Louisville Chapter. Sister Barbara Nicholas (BA ’65) and several other Sisters of Loretto were also in attendance. The Alumni Association will host another event in Louisville in the fall.

The Class of 2017 weren't the only graduates calling last Saturday a special Webster University commencement day. Karla Ramser-Young, who earned her MA in 1988 but was near full term in her pregnancy at the time, finally got to walk across the stage 29 years later. Her son, Joshua, arranged with Webster for her to cross this item off her "bucket list." Watch a video on what the moment meant to Karla and her son.
