Nurse Educator Students Reflect on Impact of Simulator, NEIP Grant

One year after a Missouri Nursing Education Incentive Program (NEIP) grant award supported Webster University in purchasing a SIMman 3G human simulator, Webster nursing students are thrilled with the impact it has had on their preparation to become nurse educators. The simulator enables "amazing role-play" learning in a safe environment. Two simulator "boot camps" created as part of the program were so successful that nursing faculty will continue them with future nurse educator students.

Nursing Students Present Posters for MSN Capstone

Fourteen graduate nursing students presented posters as part of their final capstone project on July 18. Students chose a topic and completed a literature review related to their focus of nurse educator or leader. The literature review was translated to a poster presentation, representing the final milestone in the completion of a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree. Poster topics included: disaster preparedness, horizontal violence and multi-disciplinary rounding.

Melissa Spriggs

Spriggs Leads Human Services Graduate Program

Associate Professor Melissa Spriggs has been named director of the human services graduate program. As the program's coordinator, she has already managed student inquiries, advising, and orientation, as well as the hiring and mentoring of new adjunct instructors. She has taught several courses in the program including the culminating field experience.

Webster Students, Alumni Win Excellence in Nursing Awards

Two Webster University nursing students and one alumna are among the winners of St. Louis Magazine 2018 Excellence in Nursing Awards. Additionally, three alumni and two current students were among the finalists. The Department of Nursing offers a BS in Nursing and a MSN to registered nurses seeking to further their education and advance in their career. Both are accredited by ACEN.

Alumna Named Pediatrics Nurse of the Year

Faculty members from the departments of Nursing and Nurse Anesthesia in the College of Arts and Sciences attended the March of Dimes Missouri Chapter’s Nurse of the Year gala on Oct. 10, in support of six Webster faculty, students and alumni nominated for this year’s Nurse of the Year Awards. Alumna Barbara Sicking '09 won the 2015 Nurse of the Year Award in the Pediatrics category.
