Online Learning Presents First Fridays: Critical Thinking April 14

This webinar will cover the integration of critical thinking components across the curriculum. The concept of critical thinking will be defined and specific ways to bring critical thinking into your classroom. More specifically, the session will look at ways to include critical thinking components to the online environment. It will take place on Friday, April 14, at 9 a.m CDT.

The Library's Laura Rein has been named a Fulbright Specialist, Thailand's Tim Andrews has been appointed senior visiting research fellow at the London School of Economics, Katie Ervin served on a panel for the K.C. Executive Leadership Summit, and a team from the Online Learning Center and Advising will present in Jefferson City on how Webster serves transfer students.

Research Workshop Series: Jumping Right in with R

February 17, 2017

Members of the Webster University community are invited to a four-part workshop series, Jump Right In with R: Getting Data from Twitter, held on Friday afternoons from 2-3:15 p.m., on March 24, March 31, April 7 and April 14. Over the course of four short sessions, attendees will be introduced to R while learning practical skills related to gathering data from Twitter. Faculty, staff, and students from any background and with any experience level are welcome to attend. Each session builds on the previous session, so registrants should plan to attend all four sessions.

Action Required for New Turnitin-Canvas Integration

Turnitin and Canvas have recently released a new Turnitin-Canvas integration which will be ready to use starting Spring I, 2017. All faculty teaching online will need to view assignments that use Turnitin in their course prior to graduate students returning on Jan. 6 or undergraduate and School of Education graduate students returning on Jan. 13.

4th RAD Highlights Collaborative Research across Webster Network

WebNet+ Offers the Best of Both Courses

WebNet+ courses began in Fall 2015 and allow Webster students from any location to enroll in a class and participate at a specific time, from the location that is most convenient to them. This gives students the convenience of an online course with the live interaction of an in-person course. It also allows students to connect with subject matter experts located in another area.

2017 Teaching Festival Call for Proposals; Deadline Dec. 16

The Teaching Festival Committee continues to accept proposals for presentations, posters, panels, and roundtable discussions for the 2017 Teaching Festival on the theme “Finding and Sharing Voice: Active Learning for Inquiry, Agency, and Leadership.” The Teaching Festival will be held Feb. 13-17, 2017, and proposals will be accepted until Dec. 16, 2016.
