Additional Resources for Discussions, Ideas on Future of Higher Education

Two more reports have been added to the library of materials for community members discussing solutions to challenging trends in the U.S. higher education landscape. These may be familiar to those who have read about or participated in Webster's on-going efforts with regional and national peer institutions. This resource base can help inform discussions and questions for members of the steering committee that is delving into these industry topics as they apply to Webster.

Teaching Festival Preview: Global Learning, WebNet+, Inclusive Teaching and more

Before Monday's poster session and Academic Resource Center open house, faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in the first sessions of the 2018 Teaching Festival, including presentations and discussions on global learning, teaching in the WebNet+ format and inclusive teaching. The session on global online curricula will be available via WebEx.

Presidential Scholarship Competition on Campus

The Office of Admission and President Beth Stroble will host the 2018-2019 Presidential Scholarship Competition on campus on Saturday, Feb. 10. The Presidential Scholarship is the largest academic scholarship offered to any student at Webster University. On Saturday 32 finalists will compete for five full-tuition scholarships after interviewing with Webster faculty, staff and current student leaders.

Summer Study Abroad Info Session Rescheduled for Feb. 12

An information session for Summer Study Abroad will be held Monday, Feb. 12, from 5-6 p.m. at the Pearson House, room 2. Students will learn about study abroad research opportunities, including coursework, research and field trips, research projects, special scholarship and other funding opportunities. The session will cover two unique research focused programs: "Thailand: Inequality and the Environment" and "Athens: Global Health and Inequality."

To gather important data about the outcomes of our graduates, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness needs your help in encouraging recent Fall 2017 graduates to complete the Webster University Outcomes Survey. The survey is delivered via email to recent graduates worldwide approximately six weeks after each term’s graduation date.

Topics include using the Grades of Concern Report to help vulnerable students, using the Student Success Portal, using degree plans as an advising tool, and registering new freshmen. Applications for the Spring/Summer 2019 term are now open. The Leif J. Sverdrup Global Teaching Fellowship is the university’s in-network faculty mobility program. This program allows faculty the opportunity to travel to teach for a term or semester at one of the following Webster international campuses: Athens, Geneva, Leiden, Vienna, Accra, Cha-am/Bangkok, St. Louis (main campus and Gateway campus).

Webster Wins Green Business Challenge Award

December 20, 2017

Webster University has again won an Award of Merit in the annual St. Louis Green Business Challenge. The award means Webster was one of the top three performers in the Champion category, the top tier. Recipients were praised for "driving both internal greening and the value of sustainability as a business practice for our regional economy as a whole." Several accomplishments and innovations contributed to Webster receiving this recognition, said Kelsey Wingo, Webster's sustainability planner.

New federal data says that Webster transfer students and Pell Grant recipients finish their programs at a higher rate than at other private non-profit institutions.

New Data: Webster Boosts Success of Transfer, Pell Students

Webster University has higher-than-average six-year completion rates for part-time and full-time transfer students, and for those who receive Pell Grants, according to provisional Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) statistics released by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics.
