Athens Students Present on Arts and Learning at RAD Conference

The twice-per-year Research Across Disciplines (RAD) conference in St. Louis has grown over the past two years, expanding to provide students from any campus or online across the global network the opportunity to participate via pre-recorded presentations or live video conference presentations. This past weekend’s conference was no different, including presentations by Athens students Sally Talal and Maria Stoli.

Global Leadership Academy Summer Destinations for 2018, 2019

The Global Leadership Academy directors have announced the destinations of the June sessions for the 2018 and 2019 cohorts. The 2018 cohort will take a deeper dive into the U.S. metro and military campuses, exploring campuses in Florida in June 2018, enabling additional fellows from the international campuses and applicants in the U.S. who cannot do longer-distance travel. The 2019 cohort will return to international travel, visiting the campus in Accra, Ghana, in June 2019.

Southwest Faculty Workshop Develops Teaching Techniques, Student Engagement

Southwest directors organized a faculty training workshop connecting them with the Faculty Development Center in St. Louis via WebEx, leading to new connections across the region, ways to use their networks and technology to engage their students, and feedback for the FDC staff who led the virtual workshop.

Urban Education Expert Keynotes Webster Education Conference

The Webster University School of Education welcomes H. Richard Milner IV, endowed chair of urban education at University of Pittsburgh and editor-in-chief of "Urban Education," as a keynote speaker for its annual conference, "Equity in Education: Creating Voice and Choice for Social Justice." The event on April 8 is open to the public and includes an alumni reception.

GLA Spring Week Wraps with Focus on Leadership, Student Experience

The 2017 cohort of Global Leadership Academy fellows is spending the year working around the theme of "Informed advocacy for engaged leadership." This theme is framed in five sessions delving deeper into the lifecycle of the student from recruitment through the alumni experience. The group's spring week together in St. Louis wrapped up with Webster experts explaining how different points in this cycle are handled.

Research Across Disciplines: Call for Submissions, deadline extended to April 3

Submissions are being accepted until the extended deadline of April 3 for Webster's Research Across Disciplines (RAD) conference, held May 5-6 in the East Academic Building. Students are encouraged to submit their work for the RAD conference and gain valuable experience as an emerging contributor to their field. Original work from students in all fields, throughout Webster's global network, and from other St. Louis regional institutions can be submitted.

WebsterLEADS Ushers in 1st Cohort for Spring 2017

While the Webster Groves campus undergoes improvements and expansions, a longtime leadership program experienced new construction well. Spring 2017 ushered in a new setup for WebsterLEADS, bringing together 19 students as the program's first cohort to complete the leadership requirements. Each semester a new group of 20-25 students will start their WebsterLEADS process together and work collaboratively to foster growth in their leadership talents.

Teaching Festival Preview: 2017 Opens with Poster Session, Reception

The opening reception and poster session of the 2017 Teaching Festival will be held on Monday, Feb. 13, 3-5 p.m. in the Faculty Development Center (Library Suite 420), and the event will feature projects by faculty, students, and academic partners. The entire Webster community is invited to stop by for refreshments and to celebrate Webster’s innovations and successes in the area of teaching and learning.

Webster University Biological Sciences Selected for SEA-PHAGES Research

January 24, 2017

Webster University’s Department of Biological Sciences is one of only 14 research groups nationwide to be selected for Cohort 9 of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s SEA-PHAGES program. The discovery-based undergraduate research curriculum provides students hands-on experiences discovering novel phages (viruses that infect bacteria).
