Webster Uzbekistan Welcomes New Students at Spring Orientation

Webster University in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, greeted its first Spring cohorts, welcoming approximately 70 undergraduate students at the final registration process on Jan. 10. Graduate orientation was held on Jan. 6 in the evening. The ten new MBA students had the opportunity to meet Webster staff and campus leadership, as well as learn more about the university's values and academics.

Gorloks Give Back: Webster Tashkent students meet with children with disabilities

The spirit of giving thanks was felt in Webster Tashkent on Nov. 28 as students connected to their community. On Thanksgiving, 15 student volunteers and a few staff members went to Qibray, a town near Tashkent, to meet with local children with disabilities. Webster University partnered with an organization called Opa-singillar, which translates to “Elder sisters and younger sisters,” who provides support and advocacy for women and children with disabilities. During the meeting, students played games with the children, presented them with treats, and even had a small dance.

Grand Opening Ceremony for Webster Uzbekistan Held Nov. 1

Webster University Uzbekistan held its grand opening ceremony on Nov. 1, beginning with a ribbon-cutting, and followed by a welcome from two current students and the Webster Uzbekistan Academic Director John Grainger. Speeches were given by Webster University Chancellor Elizabeth (Beth) J. Stroble, President Julian Z. Schuster, and Abdujabbor Abduvohidov, adviser to the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Science, Education, Health and Sports. A short musical program followed, featuring traditional and contemporary Uzbek music and song.

Grainger Named Academic Director of Webster University Tashkent

Webster University has named John Grainger the academic director of its location in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. In this role, Grainger will work to grow Webster’s programs in Tashkent, build the Webster network in Central Asia and manage Webster's partnership with the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education. Grainger brings to Webster a broad background in international educational management and success in academic and entrepreneurial leadership roles.
