TAP Program Preps New Students for Success at Webster

The Transitions and Academic Prep (TAP) program is an intensive, 10-day residential program for Transitions students. This year, the TAP program ran July 19-28. This year’s TAP cohort experienced an even more focused academic curriculum than previous cohorts with 28 students engaging in a 2-credit-hour WRIT 1000: Basic Writing Workshop course that focused on writing, academic integrity and research. The program also encouraged students to delve deeper into topics of diversity, privilege and oppression.

This is the sixth year the TAP program has been institutionally funded.

Webster Welcomes Students in Summer TAP Program

The Academic Resource Center and academic partners throughout campus are gearing up for the Summer TAP (Transitions and Academic Prep) program to be held July 19-28, 2017. TAP is a free residential program for conditionally admitted Transitions students who are new to Webster. During the 10-day program, TAP students live on campus, take a two-credit college course, and participate in campus workshops and activities, including the faculty "lunch and learn," to help them transition to university life.

Six Honored at Board Meeting for Advancing Strategic Plan Goals

Six colleagues who have advanced strategic plan goals in achieving student success through recruitment and retention and recognized quality of their programs were recognized at the Sept. 22 board of trustees meeting: Erin Bullerdieck, Michael Cottam, Ted Hoef, Eric Rothenbuhler, Peter Sargent and Bruce Umbaugh.

TAP Preps Incoming Students for Transition to College, Success at Webster

This summer Webster's Transition and Academic Prep (TAP) program assisted 37 new students for the transition to college academics and Webster University. Since 2011 this free program has helped almost 150 conditionally admitted students connect with the resources and tools they need to succeed.

TAP Program Adds Service Learning Project, Preps New Students July 20-29

The Academic Resource Center is gearing up for the 2016 Summer TAP (Transitions and Academic Prep) program, which will be held from July 20-29. TAP is a free residential program for conditionally admitted Transitions students who are new to Webster. During TAP, students live on campus, take college courses and participate in campus workshops and activities to help them transition to university life.

Guillermo Rodriguez received the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's Lifetime Achievement Award, Corey Hawkins and Erin Bullerdieck received awards from St. Louis Community College for their partnership with its TRIO program, and Mary Ann Drake was awarded the Mae J. Hamilton Nursing Excellence Award for contribution to the education of nursing students.

ARC Grant Connects, Engages Students and Faculty

The Academic Resource Center (ARC) has received the Bringing Theory to Practice Well-Being Seminar Grant, which supports "campus-wide planning discussions that give focused attention to a particular dimension of the well-being of those involved in creating and maintaining an engaged culture for learning.” For Webster, this grant will fund a seminar that will bring administrators, faculty and students together to examine opportunities for faculty to engage with at-risk students both in and beyond the classroom.
