Kickstarter Weight Loss Results and New Challenge

The first Kickstarter Weight Loss Challenge with Dietbet concluded mid-February with some great results. There were 36 players accomplishing a weight loss of 231.6 pounds. There were 18 participants who lost 4 percent of their body weight and received a payout of $33. To keep the momentum going, Webster Wellness is teaming up with Webster Staff Alliance to offer another Webster Kickstarter. This one will start on Monday, March 5, and conclude Sunday, April 1.

Friday Noon Yoga Sessions through April

Friday Yoga sessions will be held Feb. 9-April 27 at 12 p.m. in Webster Hall, room 135. Plan to arrive a few minutes early to fill out a waiver and get set up. We do have a few yoga mats if you need to borrow one. We wrap up a little before 1 p.m. to allow you enough time to make it to your next stop! We look forward to seeing you then!

Flu Warning: Symptoms, Tips, Guidance for the Webster Community

Widespread flu activity has been reported across the United States. The number of cases, hospitalizations, and deaths from the flu this season continue to rise. There are still weeks of flu activity ahead. It is not too late to get a flu shot, which may provide some protection. In an effort to prevent the spread of this highly contagious strain, students, employees and supervisors are encouraged to be aware of symptoms and take these precautions.

Go Red For Women

Go Red For Women, Raise Awareness For Heart Disease Feb. 2

For the past several years, Webster University has actively participated in the American Heart Association’s National Wear Red Day campaign, Go Red for Women. This year’s goal is to raise $1,000 and increase awareness in the fight against heart disease in women. By wearing red on Feb. 2 and making a donation of any amount, you can be part of raising awareness of what the American Heart Association (AHA) calls “the silent killer.”

Kickstarter Weight Loss Challenge Details, Info Session Jan. 10

Webster Wellness will host a private weight loss challenge using "DietBet," which is an online weight-loss game with financial accountability and concrete goals. DietBet has been incredibly successful, with 93.65 percent of 570,303 players losing weight during their challenges. 100 percent of participants think that the Webster Wellness Committee should offer NO-vember again next year.

Wellness NO-vember Impact: Reflections, survey results, drawing winners

During Webster Wellness' NO-vember initiative, participants received a success tracking survey via email. In the final NO-vember survey, 100 percent of participants said they were at least somewhat successful in reaching their goals and 30 percent felt that they were definitely successful. Webster Wellness NO-vember Midpoint Results

The Webster Wellness Committee's NO-vember initiative encourages setting personal, realistic goals and tracking progress made over a four-week period. The Committee is thrilled with participation in the first ever NO-vember! The 60 total participants consisted of 70 percent staff, 22 percent faculty, and 8 percent students. Each of the seven categories was selected by participants, but the most common selections were physical (40 percent), emotional (21 percent), and spiritual (13 percent).

As benefits open enrollment commences, Nov. 1-15, the Annual Benefits Fair will be held on Thursday, Nov. 2, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m, in Sunnen Lounge. All insurance carriers, such as United Healthcare and TIAA, will be available to respond to questions, along with Human Resources and Webster Wellness. There will also be giveaways and prizes. Light the Night Exceeded Last Year's Donation Total

Webster Wellness thanks 26 generous employees and students who donated last week to Light the Night to Cure Cancer, sponsored by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We exceeded last year’s total by raising $665 to contribute to this effort to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and improve the quality of life of local patients and their families.
