Webster Wellness 1st Annual Indoor "Try"-athlon

Webster Wellness has organized its first annual "Try-athlon" to be held April 17-23 in the University Pool and Fitness Center for new and veteran triathlon participants. Part of our spring “wellness challenge” event, this is for anyone in the Webster University community interested in competing, a challenge or just for seeking new ways to move more and gain new heights.

Go Red For Women

Go Red For Women, Raise Awareness For Heart Disease Feb. 3

For the past several years, Webster University has actively participated in the American Heart Association’s National Wear Red Day campaign, Go Red for Women. This year’s goal is to raise $1,000 and increase awareness in the fight against heart disease in women. By wearing red on Feb. 3 and making a donation of any amount, you can be part of raising awareness of what the American Heart Association (AHA) calls “the silent killer.”

The Great American Smokeout Nov. 17

Do you want to quit smoking, or care about someone who does? Webster Wellness and The American Cancer Society urges people to use the Great American Smokeout on Nov. 17 as a date to sit down and make a plan to stop smoking. Additionally, a tobacco cessation support group informational meeting is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 30.

Keys to Wellness: 250 Turn out for Wellness Fair, collect prizes

The 2016 Webster Wellness and Student Success Fair on Sept. 14 was a success, with 37 vendors and approximately 250 Webster community members in attendance. The goal of the fair was to encourage attendees to make positive life-style changes that help improve your overall health and well-being. In addition to the wellness activities, 70 signed up for flu shots administered later in the week.

Mobile Mammography Van on Home Campus Sept. 22

The St. Luke’s Mobile Mammography van will be at Webster on Thursday, Sept. 22, from 8 a.m.–1:30 p.m. in Parking Lot G across from the Parking Garage and Bookstore. This provides an annual preventive care 2-D screening mammogram for women over 40. This does not require a doctor’s order in advance and St. Luke’s will report results to your primary care physician. Scheduling an appointment is required and spots are limited.

Mindful Miles 2016

Mindful Miles Marathon Finishes Strong with 96% Completion Rate

The 2016 Mindful Miles Marathon wrapped up on Wednesday, April 27. The wellness challenge had a total of 109 participants consisting of 80 staff members, 14 faculty members and 15 students. The total miles achieved from the group's participation reached 9,682, an increase from last year’s total miles of 8,521. Participants achieved these miles through various methods such as walking, running, bicycling, hiking, swimming and more. The 2016 Mindful Miles Marathon had a 96% completion rate, meaning 105 out of the 109 participants completed the entire marathon of 26.2 miles over the course of 6 weeks.
