Webster Ghana Service Project Helps Special School in Accra

Students, faculty and staff at the Ghana campus observed this year’s Webster Works Worldwide (WWW), the annual community service day, with the painting of sections of New Horizon Special School in Accra. The school provides a day school education for children and vocational training and employment for adults who have intellectual disability.

16th Annual Children's Book Drive Begins Sept. 30

The annual Webster Works Worldwide Children's Book Drive collects new and "gently used" books for children from infants to teens, donating them to schools and other agencies serving low-income families. Since the project began, 15,393 books have been donated by Webster students, faculty, and staff. To donate, look for golden collection boxes around campus.

Webster Works Worldwide (WWW) will celebrate its 22nd year of providing community service on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016. Since WWW began in 1995, more than 31,000 volunteers have given more 134,000 hours of service worldwide. Mark your calendars for this date, including the kickoff at 8 a.m. in St. Louis. If you would like to invite an agency that hasn't previously participated, please submit their information.

Webster Community Collects 1500 Books for Children's Drive

This year's Webster Works Worldwide Children's Book Drive was one of the best in the 15-year history of the drive: 1,557 books were donated by members of the Webster University community. That brings the total to 15,161 books donated since the project began. Donations are still being accepted as part of a project in the keystone course, "Equity in Education."

Each year at Webster University campuses around the world, students, alumni, faculty and staff volunteer with agencies and projects that make a difference in their local communities. In South Carolina for Webster Works Worldwide, the Columbia Metro campus volunteered with the EdVenture Community Garden project, while Myrtle Beach participated in Treats for Special Kids at Medieval Times.

Athens WWW Project Supports Syrian Refugees

October 27, 2015

Webster Athens' first-ever Webster Works Worldwide project brought students, faculty and staff to the soup kitchen of Caritas Hellas Refugee Center, where over 200 meals were served to refugees and their families, mainly from Syria. The students had such moving experiences that several plan to continue volunteering throughout the semester, including planning a special holiday toy party for the child refugees.
