Webster Works Worldwide Projects in Thailand Support Local Agencies

Webster University Thailand students in Bangkok and Hua Hin/Cha Am observed the 23rd annual Webster Works Worldwide on Oct. 28, each working with agencies that serve children in their local communities. In Bangkok, participants went to the Baan Tan Tawan Foundation, which supports underprivileged and orphaned children. Participants from Hua Hin/Cha-Am visited the Brain & Mind Disabilities Center in Ratchaburi province.

Ghana Engages Accra Community in WWW Events

Webster University's Ghana campus observed this year’s Webster Works Worldwide (WWW) with a series of activities to encourage communal spirit among students, staff and faculty. The Webster Ghana team started off WWW with the distribution of Aquatabs - a water purification tablet in Jamestown, one of the densely populated suburbs in Accra where access to clean running water is restricted. They also worked with the family planning unit of the NGO, Ussher Polyclinic and Willows International, and with the Jamestown Maternity Home.

Students get crafty in a freshman seminar class on behalf of the community

Webster Works Snapshot: Seminar class assists refugee organization

Jen Owens executive director at FORAI (Friends Of Refugees And Immigrants), visited a freshman seminar class on Tuesday, Oct. 3 to discuss the organization and shared stories from the women involved. As a service project and in honor of Webster Works Worldwide, students assembled 200 shopping bags to be used for products sold at upcoming craft shows.

For Webster Works Worldwide, Webster University's annual service day at campuses around the world, nine students, faculty and staff from the Irvine, California, campus location prepared and served location at Someone Cares Soup Kitchen. Founded in 1986, the organization serves approximately 300 individuals a hot lunch each day. They also serve breakfast on the weekends and provide after school tutoring services for local school children.

17th Annual Children's Book Drive Runs through Oct. 9

The 17th annual Webster Works Worldwide Children's Book Drive begins this week and will run through Monday, Oct. 9. New and "gently used" books for children from infants to teens will be collected and donated to schools and other agencies serving low-income children and families. Since the project began 17,664 books have been donated by Webster students, faculty, and staff.

Webster Works Worldwide (WWW), our annual community service day, is just around the corner on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Since the start of WWW in 1995, over 32,000 volunteers have given more than 141,000 hours of service! We hope you will join us in this very important Webster tradition again this year. In St. Louis, the project database is open and team leaders are needed. Team leaders serve as liaisons between individual volunteers and the agency in need and serve a critical role in making WWW a success.

Since the event began at Webster University in 1995, more than 32,000 volunteers have given more 141,000 hours of service worldwide! Mark your calendars for this date, including the kickoff at 8 a.m. in St. Louis. If you would like to invite an agency that hasn't previously participated, please submit their information.

Students, faculty and staff at the Ghana campus observed this year’s Webster Works Worldwide (WWW), the annual community service day, with the painting of sections of New Horizon Special School in Accra. The school provides a day school education for children and vocational training and employment for adults who have intellectual disability.
