Construction Update May 9 2016
A rendering of interior of the Interdisciplinary Science Building

This is a regular update of the construction work for the Interdisciplinary Science Building and the Parking Garage expansion on the home campus of Webster University in Webster Groves, Missouri:

  • Paric Corporation and Webster University will jointly purchase a digital camera that will live-stream the construction site over the Internet. The URL for the camera will be shared with the community once it is connected to the Web so that anyone can see how construction is progressing. Besides allowing supporters and the community to see the work, the camera also will increase security of the site. In line with Webster University’s sustainability efforts, the camera will be powered by solar panels.
  • An earth retention system will be constructed starting today through June 8. This is not expected to have a significant impact on campus activities.
  • Excavation for the Interdisciplinary Science Building (ISB) continues this week from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. This phase of the project is expected to finish in early June. University officials are working with representatives of the Opera Theatre of St. Louis to minimize the impact of this work on the theatre’s upcoming Saturday matinees.
  • During the next month, students, faculty and employees are encouraged to avoid parking in lot K due to the excavation work, which could create dusty conditions and some traffic slow-downs in the parking lot and on Big Bend Boulevard. Alternative parking solutions include the parking garage (which should be relatively empty during the summer) as well as lot O (east of the parking garage), which will be open through the end of May. The University’s UPass provides students, faculty and staff with free transit on Metro buses and MetroLink. Bike racks are available throughout campus, and a bike maintenance station is installed outside the University Center.
