A rendering of the Interdisciplinary Science Building

This is a regular update of the construction work for the Interdisciplinary Science Building (ISB) and the Parking Garage expansion on the home campus of Webster University in Webster Groves, Missouri:

A Topping Out ceremony will be held for the ISB at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 14. Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend and sign the final steel beam that will be placed in the building. The topping out beam will be available for signing from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and located to the east of the Mary Ann Lee Plaza in the driveway that leads to the Pearson House. More details can be found in this announcement

  • Walls at the Level 0 (lowest level) backfill area are being installed next week.
  • The Level 0 underground rough in is expected to be completed this weekend.
  • The Level 0 slab on grade preparation and pour will begin next week and continue through the first week of October. As a result, those who park in Lot K should anticipate an increase in traffic from cement trucks.
  • The structural steel erection is continuing through October.
  • Work crews will build the steel framing for the functional mock-up of the building on the south end of Lot K. As announced previously, the mock-up will be used for testing, demonstration and aesthetic purposes.
  • Starting Sept. 29 and lasting through Nov. 4, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing rough-in will occur at slab-on metal decking at Levels 2 thru 4. The Level 0 slab-on-grade concrete preparation and pour will happen Sept. 26 and Sept. 27.

Over at the Parking Garage expansion:

  • Piers are continuing as scheduled.  So far, 19 of the 40 piers are in place.
  • The north half of the detention basin was installed. The second half will continue through the week.
  • With the south half of the drilled piers complete, the concrete crews began excavation of the grade beams. Be aware of concrete trucks entering the jobsite next Friday for this part of the project.
