Sverdrup Construction Update April 27 2018
Work continues on the Sverdrup building. Floors are being polished and walls painted. Construction is expected to be completed in June.

This is a regular update of the construction work on the home campus of Webster University in Webster Groves, Missouri:

Sverdrup Building:

  • Three handicap parking spaces at Lot F located between the Visual Arts Building and Sverdrup Hall are being temporarily used for construction deliveries and storage to reduce construction traffic along Bend Bend Blvd. These parking spaces will be restored after the Sverdrup Hall Project is completed (approximately in late June).
  • Structural steel will be installed for the new and improved east wing stair installation during the first half of May.
  • Crews will remove the existing masonry west elevation during the next two weeks. During that same time, they will install structural supports at the east and west elevations.
  • Masonry will be reinstalled at the east and west elevations during the first half of May.
  • Storefront glazing at the north entrances on the west side will start the first week of May and on the south entrances the second week of May. Storefront demolition of the north entrances on the east side will begin the second week of May and will last a couple of days.
  • Workers will begin polishing the concrete floors in the east wing the first week of May. The work is expected to last through mid-May.  This is a wet polishing process so dust will not be an issue.
  • Interior painting and priming will continue through early May. When weather permits, doors, and windows will be left open to better ventilate the space.
