Around Webster: Foley, Barrois at CAM; Rosenblum at HMLC, Scharf named head

Recent professional accomplishments and recognitions for Webster University community members include:

Foley, Barrois Receive Art Award, Will Exhibit at CAM

Tate Foley, assistant professor of art in the Department of Art, Design, and Art History, and adjunct faculty member Lyndon Barrois Jr. were each awarded the Great Rivers Biennial Award this past June. Their work will culminate in an exhibition at the Contemporary Art Museum (CAM) in St. Louis in May 2016.

Foley's work "revolves around independent publishing and the codex." Barrois "examines questions of aesthetic value, race and representation, and the creation of meaning through imagery in popular culture."

Rosenblum Interviewed in HMLC Feature

Warren Rosenblum, chair of the History, Politics, and International Relations Department, is interviewed in the new promotional video for the Holocaust Museuem & Learning Center in St. Louis. The video also includes snippets from his visit to the museum with students from Maplewood Richmond Heights High School last spring.

University Library: Sharf Named Head of Reference Services

Laura Rein, dean of University Libraries, announced that Emily Scharf has been promoted to head of Reference Services. Scharf has served as an Instruction and Liaison Services librarian since 2009 and is a 2015 Global Leadership Academy fellow. She has worked with the Reference Services Department for some time now and is excited to lead this talented group of librarians.

She will continue as liaison to Anthropology & Sociology; Art, Design, and Art History; Conservatory of Theatre Arts; Dance; and the Institute for Human Rights and Humanitarian Studies, as she joins Rein, Eileen Condon, Holly Hubenschmidt, and Matthew Wier on the Library's management team.
