CCO Departing at End of May

Webster's chief communications officer, Barbara O'Malley, will leave Webster University at the end of May to pursue other interests. O'Malley came to Webster in 2011 to establish Webster’s first Global Marketing Communications (GMC) administrative unit – effectively integrating the marketing and communications functions and elevating the GMC team to perform global responsibilities.

Under her leadership, the University launched Truly Global brand marketing, elevating awareness and establishing Webster’s reputation as a distinctive global institution in St. Louis and beyond.

She built the infrastructure for a successful GMC unit – establishing interconnected networks with marketing and communication professionals at campus locations around the world – enhancing consistent and strategic communication.

“It’s been an honor to serve Webster University, President Stroble, Provost Schuster and the distinguished faculty, staff and students,” O’Malley said. “I will always treasure my time here at Webster in this pivotal point in history as the University launched into its second century. I’m so thankful for the talented and dedicated GMC staff who have accomplished so much and will continue the good work of telling Webster’s diverse and global stories.”

"Barbara will be remembered as a leader who really built the GMC unit from the ground up," said Stroble and Schuster in a message to Administrative Council. "As Working Chair of the University’s Centennial, she effectively united the efforts of hundreds of volunteers from around the world in a celebration that elevated awareness of the University around the world. We wish Barb the best of luck in her future endeavors."
