Faculty Development Leave Status Review

Faculty Development Leave Status Review

If your department completed continuing Faculty Development Leave (FDL)  status reviews for any of your faculty this fall, the University handbook requires that you inform the Committee to Review Faculty (CRF) of the results of those reviews by Thursday, Dec.15. (This applies only to continuing status reviews – you do not need to inform CRF of the results of any probationary reviews you might have conducted this year.)

As a reminder: any faculty member who has FDL status must undergo a continuing status review every five years. Those reviews are conducted within the department and if a faculty member receives a positive vote for continuing status by at least 75 percent of the members of the voting members of the department faculty, CRF automatically defers to the vote of the faculty in favor of continuing status. If a faculty member receives a negative review or a positive review supported by less that 75 percent of the department faculty, CRF will conduct its own review for continuing status.

In your memo to CRF, you should list any member of your faculty who had a continuing status review this year and the results of that review.

You should submit a signed copy of your memo to either of the committee co-chairs: Joe Schuster, room 240 of the Sverdrup Building, (schuster@webster.edu) or Rich Dippel, room 349 of the East Academic Building (dippelr@webster.edu). Alternately, you may email a PDF of your signed memo to either of the co-chairs.
