W-2 Forms Now Available
Jan. 26, 2016
If you did not opt out of receiving a paper W-2, your W-2 will be mailed to your address of record this week. In addition, all eligible employees will be receiving form 1095-C in the mail.
What Is a 1095-C?
The 1095-C is a new required form for all full-time employees submitting their 2015 tax returns. It certifies an employee’s healthcare coverage status, as required by the Affordable Healthcare Act. It also helps the IRS administer premium tax credits, if applicable, for any employee who qualified and enrolled for coverage at a Health Insurance Marketplace rather than enrolling in Webster’s plan.
The 1095-C form contains the following:
- information about Webster University
- the coverage offered based on the ACA requirements and to whom it was offered
- the lowest cost monthly premium for the coverage that includes minimally essential benefits as defined by the ACA
- who is covered under your plan and for which months you were covered during the tax year
Webster will distribute this form to your home address on record in ADP for the first time in 2016 for tax year 2015. You will be expected to include this with your tax filing to the IRS. Overall, the 1095-C attests to your coverage status as required by the ACA and helps the IRS administer premium tax credits, if applicable, for any employees who qualified and enrolled for coverage at a Health Insurance Marketplace rather than enrolling in their employer plan.
