The Office of Academic Affairs is pleased to announce that Patty Li has been named director of the Confucius Institute at Webster University.

Li comes to Webster with more than 10 years of nonprofit experience, serving as a financial manager at the China Care Foundation and as director of finance at the Orianne Society. Prior to her experience working at nonprofits, Li served as a staff auditor for the Arthur Bell CPA firm, a research associate at John Hopkins University, and an assistant professor of English Language and Literature at Beijing Technology and Business University.

“Patty has a combination of education and experience that will help the Confucius Institute to strengthen its programming,” said Nancy Hellerud, vice provost. “Her experience as a faculty member in China teaching English gives her insight into how to improve and grow the Chinese language courses for Webster students. Her nonprofit experience as well as her managerial and financial skills position her well to provide strategic leadership to the Institute and to assist us in growing our partnerships and collaborations in China.”

Li has a BA and an MA in English Language and Literature from Lanzhou University in Lanzhou, China and an MS in Accountancy from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She joined Webster on Thursday, Nov. 16.
