October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month
Resources for National Cyber Security Awareness

In Information Technology, we understand that you may have a lot of questions about cyber security, especially about what you can do at home to protect yourself and your family. That is why we are so excited to announce a series of Webster Today articles this month during National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

During October, you will have the chance review a variety of resources and messages to help you better understand cyber security and the simple steps you can take to protect yourself, your family and Webster University.

Our goal is to enable you to make the most of today’s technology. Please take this information seriously and apply what you learn.  We look forward to seeing the results (does awareness transfer to changes in behavior?) and hearing your feedback.

Schedule of Cyber Security Awareness Topics

The schedule for the month of October is:

  • Week 01: Oct. 02-06: STOP. THINK. CONNECT.™: Simple Steps to Online Safety.
  • Week 02: Oct. 09-13: Cybersecurity in the Workplace Is Everyone's Business.
  • Week 03: Oct. 16-20: Today's Predictions for Tomorrow's Internet.
  • Week 04: Oct. 23-27: The Internet Wants You: Consider a Career in Cybersecurity

We will also be setting up an area in the Connections portal where these resources will be stored for your future reference. If you have any questions about our activities in October or suggestions on how to improve our cyber security efforts, please contact Terri Jones (terrij@webster.edu). She is overall responsible for our security awareness program and will be happy to hear from you.
