Human Resources: Six tax questions to ask before you retire

A recent article in U.S. News & World Report, “6 Tax Questions To Ask Before You Retire,” provides some insight on the unexpected impact taxes may have on your retirement income.

The article, by Brian O’Connell in the July 10, 2017 issue, recommends employees take time with a financial professional to consider the expense of taxes along with your plan for earnings.

The six questions are:

1. Is there enough money to retire?
2. How will distributions affect my taxes?
3. How much of Social Security is taxable?
4. What type of retirement income will I have?
5. When should I take a lump sum payment?
6. Am I eligible for a reduction in local property taxes?
