The International Relations Department at Webster University's Leiden campus hosted a panel discussion to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of Kosovar independence. The nation adopted official independence from Serbia on Feb. 17, 2008.

Madame Ambassador H.E. Vjosa Dobruna of Kosovo and Dr. Nevenka Tromp of Universiteit van Amsterdam, Webster University and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), spoke on the timeline of events leading up to the declaration.

Dutch politician, author and former European Parliament member (1994 – 2009) Jan Marinus Wiersma presented his analysis of the current relations between the Balkan states and the European Union.

The event coincided with current student coursework and the Geoffery Nice Foundation conference entitled, “Political Expediency Behind International Criminal Courts” this weekend in The Hague.
