Borealis Renews its Commitment to Social Scholarship Fund.

Webster Vienna Private University (WVPU), the Vienna Campus of the worldwide Webster University network announces jointly with Borealis, the extension of its commitment to endowing the social scholarship fund at WVPU. The endowment, originally established in 2016, provides financial support by way of merit and social scholarships to academically gifted students.

Made possible by the Borealis Social Fund, the Borealis Scholarships endowment at WVPU encompasses scholarships based on need and merit. By easing the financial burden of tuition, especially for students from less advantaged financial backgrounds, its aim is to motivate and reward Webster Vienna’s top academic achievers while at the same time enabling them to concentrate fully on their studies. Over the next five years, Borealis will continue to fund both types of scholarships.

“Borealis is pleased and proud to play a role in enabling these young, talented students to concentrate fully on their studies at Webster University,” says Philippe Roodhooft, Borealis Executive Vice President Middle East and Growth Projects. “The Borealis Social Fund advances education and social integration and these scholarships are the ideal vehicle to ensure that high potential students from all walks of life can benefit from a top-notch university education.”

Three social scholarships providing almost full tuition coverage over the four full years will be awarded in the next three consecutive academic years to three incoming freshman students. Five merit-based Borealis Excellence Awards will also be awarded in the next three consecutive academic years to undergraduate students having earned a high grade point average (GPA) of 3.8 to 4.0 in their freshman year at Webster Vienna. These scholarships will cover half of the cost of tuition fees for three years. Students of any program or major are eligible for the scholarships.

“This scholarship and grant package continues to be the most extensive in Webster Vienna’s nearly 40-year history, and helps attract talented students from less favorable economic backgrounds,” says Dr. Johannes Pollak, Director of WVPU. “Our entire management team at WVPU is thrilled to offer such an extraordinary opportunity to our very deserving students.”
