Snapshots: Students, staff, faculty in Vienna Night Run
A group of Webster students, staff and faculty were among 20,000 in the Vienna Night Run.

Score another one for Webster Wellness.

Once again a team of Webster Vienna students, staff and faculty braved the cool autumn evening to participate in the Vienna Night Run. They did it along with 20,000 other running enthusiasts -- and one Webster student had the fifth-best time of all participants.

The Vienna campus has a tradition of running around the city, annually fielding teams for the Night Run event as well as the Vienna Marathon.

Not only was the latest event fun and healthy, but part of each racer's fee went to the charity Licht fuer die Welt to help seeing-impaired children in developing countries.

Graduate student Juan Castillo had the best time among the Webster Vienna men, with an incredible 15:44, good for 5th place among all runners!

"I never thought I'd set a personal record today," said the former NCAA Divison I middle-distance runner. "I'm in pretty good shape right now, but I expected to run maybe 16:20."

Castillo achieved the feat after running 10km the morning of race day - obviously just a warm-up for him!

For the second year in a row, grad student Allison Gutscher had the best Webster women's time with 22:19. Congratulations to all!
