Conservatory Students Sweep NSAL Chapter Competition

The 2016 National Society of Arts & Letters National Annual Awards Competition took place on Saturday, March 5, at the Loretto-Hilton Center.

Students from Webster University’s Conservatory of Theatre Arts in the Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts swept the awards: Austen Bohmer (Acting) finished in first place; Corbin Sprayberry (Musical Theatre) followed in second place; and Cherlynn Desiree Álvarez (Musical Theatre) placed third.

The NSAL Annual Awards Competition offers young artists an exceptional opportunity to perform for a panel of top-ranked professional judges.

The first place chapter winner receives $2,000, and the opportunity to compete for several national prizes of up to $10,000. The second place chapter winner receives $1,000 and the third place chapter winner receives $750. The 2015 National Meeting was held in St. Louis in May 2015, and the 2016 Meeting will be in Phoenix, Arizona.

The St. Louis Chapter Competition is open to any U.S. citizen or legal resident living in the St. Louis NSAL region, including Missouri, southern Iowa, and southern Illinois. Competition contestants must have passed their 18th birthday but not yet reached their 26th birthday as of May 17, 2016.
