Punch for Purple: Myrtle Beach campus holds domestic violence fundraiser event

The Counseling department at Webster University’s Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, recently partnered with local businesses to raise awareness and advocate for those impacted by domestic violence at the event Punch for Purple, held at Title Boxing Club Myrtle Beach. Guests enjoyed complimentary chair massages and a 30-minute boxing technique class, along with a 50-50 raffle. Items and donations were collected for the local domestic violence shelter. The event was organized by faculty member Thommi Lawson. "As a counselor educator, we encourage our students to advocate for our clients, and I believe we must practice what we preach," said Lawson.

'Working Together': Webster LEADS Students Retreat in Tuscany

What could be better than learning about leadership under the Tuscan sun? Twenty-one students from Webster's Vienna and Geneva campuses experienced exactly this during their annual leadership retreat. Through the Webster LEADS program, the students had the opportunity to journey to Italy for a weekend of workshops and activities at a small Tuscan town of Pistoia near Florence, Italy. The LEADS Retreat program included different activities aimed at preparing the students to assume leadership positions at their universities, especially as leaders in upcoming new student orientations.

Community Music School Student Joins Muny Orchestra

Community Music School student and recent graduate of Ladue High School, Nathan Hsu, has been offered a cello section position with The MUNY Orchestra for the summer 2017 season. Nathan started with CMS in the Suzuki program with Mary Lou Gotman and continued his cello studies with CMS faculty member, Catherine Lehr.

Luke AFB Volunteers Join in Arizona National Memorial Cemetery Honors

For the second year, staff from Webster University's Luke Air Force Base campus location joined the effort to place flags on each of the over 50,000 final resting places of military veterans at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona this year. This Memorial Day event draws military and private organizations as well as families and individuals from across the entire state, and has grown in participation every year.
