President Stroble Welcomes Chamber of Commerce to the Home Campus
President Stroble welcomed members of the Chamber of Commerce to the Webster Groves Campus.

President Stroble welcomed about 75 members of the Webster Groves/Shrewsbury/Rock Hill Chamber of Commerce to the home campus Thursday.

During her welcome speech, Stroble told the members about the hundreds of events held on campus that are open to the community every year, from lectures to concerts. She also explained Webster University’s partnership with Opera Theatre St. Louis, The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, The Muny and the Shakespeare Festival of St. Louis and how Webster University has historical been a strong supporter of the performing arts in the St. Louis region.

Stroble invited the members to join the Webster community in watching the solar eclipse on Aug. 21, and let the members know about other major upcoming events, including the upcoming ribbon cutting ceremony for Browning Hall on Oct. 19, the celebration of the 50th anniversary of The Conservatory next spring, and the upcoming performance of Brigadoon in April.

During the question and answer session, Stroble was asked about how Webster University supports students with scholarships. She explained the University’s robust scholarship system and its recent ranking by College.net as one of the top universities in the country for giving students “social mobility” after graduation.

After the lunch, Biology Professor Stephanie Schroeder led a tour of Browning Hall for a small group of chamber members.
