Webster University's five-time championship chess team was featured in news, sports and chess media across the country following last week's record fifth consecutive national championship victory in the President's Cup, known as the Final Four of Collegiate Chess.

Among the coverage highlights:

Four members of the team were live, in-studio guests on "Sunday Sports Extra" on KPLR 11, talking to show host Rich Gould for a five-minute segment. Head coach Susan Polgar and student Le Quang Liem, a finance and management double-major from Vietnam, were at the studio desk with Gould, where they discussed the diverse makeup of Webster’s team, keys to their success, and the work they put in outside of academic class to win the President’s Cup “Final Four of College Chess” tournament in New York.

Fellow Webster teammates Aleksandr Shimanov, an MBA student from Russia, and Priyadharshan Kannappan, a Management and Leadership student from India, were also in studio playing speed chess during the interview.
