Athletics Summer Camp Dates for Volleyball, Basketball

Once again this summer, the Webster University volleyball and men's and women's basketball programs will be offering camps this summer on-campus in Grant Gymnasium in Webster's University Center. Both sports will be offering several types of camps, but spots are filling up fast.

Nike Basketball Camps

The Gorlok Volleyball program, which is under the direction of head coach Merry Graf is offering a variety of different camps this summer.

The first Gorlok Volleyball camp is scheduled for June 5-7, costs $90 and will be limited to 48 campers. The camp will have two sessions - the morning session (9 a.m.-12 p.m.) will be for volleyball players in grades 5-8, while the afternoon session (1-4 p.m.) will be open for volleyball players in high school (grades 9-12). The camp, which is open to all skill levels, will cover all skills and emphasize learning fundamentals, while also having fun. Webster's volleyball coaching staff and team members will provide one-on-one instruction. All of the campers will also receive a camp t-shirt.

Webster's second volleyball camp will be three different specialty camps that will held July 25 and July 26. The specialty camps cost $50 and are open to volleyball players in grades 7-12 and are limited to 36 campers per specialty. All of the campers will receive a camp t-shirt and each of the campers will learn individual fundamentals and team concepts of the game of volleyball.

The first specialty camp on July 25 is devoted to setting. The camp, which will run from 6-9 p.m., will focus on proper setting techniques, set selection and setter attacks. The next specialty camp on July 26 will be devoted to defense. The camp, which will run from 1-4 p.m., will include passing techniques, serve receive and how to read different attacks, while the final specialty camp devoted to hitting is scheduled for July 26. The hitting specialty camp, which is scheduled for 6-9 p.m., will focus on hitting footwork, arm swing, shot selection and blocking and also how to hit a variety of different sets.

In addition to those two volleyball camps, Webster will also host a Nike Volleyball Camp on campus this summer. The Nike Volleyball Camps are scheduled for July 8-11 (All-Skills) and July 11-13 (Advanced). The price of the All-Skills camp, which is open to volleyball players between 12-18 years old, is $380 for non-overnight and $480 for overnight campers, while the Advanced Camp is open to volleyball players with high potential between the ages of 14-18 and is costs $250 for non-overnight and $350 for overnight campers. 

The Nike Volleyball Camps will consist of small training groups divided by skill level and will benefit players at any stage of their game with individualized training, full scrimmages and games. The camp highlights include 6 to 7 hours of daily instruction with a 1:10 staff to camper ratio, excellent residential, dining and training facilities on the Webster University campus, instruction from collegiate coaches and players and a Nike Volleyball Camp t-shirt and prizes.

Nike Basketball Camps

Along with the volleyball camps, the Webster men's and women's basketball programs will also be offering Nike Basketball Camps for boys and girls this summer. 

The Nike Girls Basketball Camp will be run by Gorloks head women's basketball coach Jordan Olufson and his assistant coach, Kaliann Rikard-Henke. The girls will have two camps this summer, the first camp is a complete skills camp scheduled for June 10-13, while the second camp will be a post and perimeter camp on July 15-17. Both of the camps are open to girls between the ages of 10-18 and are offered as either overnight or commuter. The cost of the Complete Skills Camp is $465 for overnight or $365 for commuter, while the cost of the Post/Perimeter Camp is $335 for overnight and $265 for commuter campers. 

The complete skills camp will help players of all abilities develop athletically, refine fundamental basketball skills and enhance their skill set at the post, wing or guard position, while the post and perimeter camp will focus on improving post and perimeter skills with an emphasis being placed on dribbling, passing, shooting, leading a fast break, driving to score/pass, moving without the ball, using screens and the pick and roll. 

At each of the camps, the campers will work daily with the Webster University Women's Basketball staff and players and daily emphasis will be on individual development, team play and offensive skills and they will also receive a Nike Basketball Camp t-shirt and other prizes.

The Nike Boys Basketball Camp will be run by Gorloks head men's basketball coach Chris Bunch. The boys will have two sessions of a complete skills camps, which will be held on either June 17-20 or July 22-25. Both of the camps are open to boys between the ages of 8-17 and are offered as either overnight or commuter. The cost of the complete skills camp is $465 for overnight or $365 for commuter campers for each session.

Webster's complete boys skill camp will help players of all abilities develop athletically, refine fundamental basketball skills and enhance their skill set at the post, wing or guard position. The camper will receive daily emphasis on fundamental shooting development, team play and more and will also have in-depth discussions on basketball situational play, time and game management. The campers will also receive a Nike Basketball Camp t-short and other prizes.
