Music Inspired by Love of Country: a recital with CMS Faculty
The recital will be on Saturday, Feb. 17.

The Community Music School of Webster University (CMS) invites you to a Spring concert featuring some of their distinguished faculty on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m. The concert will be held at the CMS Concert Hall located at 535 Garden Avenue and features a repertoire that echoes the composer's love of country.

Claude Debussy's Sonata No. 1 for cello and piano performed by Soo Kim (piano) and Jun Seo (cello), uses the sonata form in a modern piece reflecting his efforts to preserve his native French culture in the aftermath of World War I. Kyu Butler (piano) will perform the first of three suites by Franz Liszt, Vallée d'Obermann from Années de pelerinage Premiere année: Suisse which was inspired by his travels in Switzerland. Patrick Rafferty (guitar) will play the Suite Castellana by Frederico Moreno Torroba, a work that mirrors the very heart of Spanish nationalism in the 20th century. And Beethoven's first movement of his Sonata Op. 14 No. 2 played by Karl Koesterer (piano), is a burst of springtime country air filled with joy and merriment.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact 314-968-5939 or visit the News and Events page at www.webster.edu/cms.
