University Donors Honored at A Night of the Webster Stars Webster Board of Trustees Vice Chair

Webster University celebrated and honored its most supportive and influential donors at the 2018 Donor Recognition Dinner on Nov. 1. The evening’s theme, “A Night of the Webster Stars,” highlighted the impact of donors on the University’s strength, campus growth and student successes.

The event began with a warm welcome from John (Jack) Galmiche, Vice Chair of the Webster University Board of Trustees and President and CEO of Nine Network of Public Media. Provost, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Julian Z. Schuster gave remarks about donors’ impact on Webster’s students, our “future Webster stars.”

Senior musical theatre major Caitlin Witty won over the room with three incredible songs, including “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” accompanied by Larry Pry, adjunct professor of musical theatre.

Laura Herring, 2018 Visionary Award Recipient

After dinner, the evening continued with President Elizabeth (Beth) J. Stroble, who highlighted Webster’s future as the University prepares to celebrate its 100th commencement in May 2019. Stroble then announced the 2018 Visionary Award recipient. This special honor, which recognizes a donor who has made a transformational gift to and significant impact on Webster University, was given to Laura House Herring ‘70.

A member of the Webster University Board of Trustees and alumna of the University, Herring is a trailblazer whose impact on Webster and the St. Louis community is expansive.


Webster University is grateful to Herring for her years of service to the University and her transformational gift to ensure the future of the arts programs at Webster. The Webster community is also appreciative of the many guests who celebrated the Visionary Award recipient as well as the University's continued growth and success at “A Night of the Webster Stars.”
