"Manology II" Fashion Show and Art Exhibit Scheduled at Gateway Art Museum
A fashion show and art exhibit will open in the Gateway Art Museum on July 20.

ST. LOUIS - A fashion show that will explore the theme of what it means to be a man will be held at the Art Gallery at Webster University's Gateway Campus, located in the historic Arcade Building in Downtown St. Louis. The fashion show also will display the artwork of several rising stars in the St. Louis region.

The exhibition opening, free and open to the public, will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. July 20. Doors open for the fashion show at 6 p.m. The fashion show begins at 7:30 p.m.but tickets are required. Ticket prices for the fashion show range from $20 to $50.

The immersive show, titled “Manology II,” is the brainchild of local fashion visionary Jacquelyne Craig, founder of BLAQ Séance Productions, and William Humphrey of EYEKON Klothing. The show is sponsored in part by Webster University's Department of Art, Design and Art History (DADAH). The fashion show will feature five “couture-esque” fashion designs for men and is intended to explore the concept of the “whole man” and the “prisons” that prevent them from attaining “wholeness.”

As a backdrop to the fashion show, the production will feature the artworks of Webster alumnus Vaughn Davis, BFA '17, whose work is best known for its sizable died canvas. Basil Kincaid, a rising star in the contemporary art world, also will have works featured in the show. Kincaid often uses multimedia quilts and installations to address subjects such as identity, race, freedom and the African diaspora.

The art exhibition will be on display until August 20. The Art Gallery at Webster University's Gateway Campus, located at 812 Olive St., is open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m, and Wednesdays and Fridays from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets for the Manology II Fashion Show are available for purchase online until July 18 at, https://www.eventbrite.com/e/manology-ll-tickets-44777789574, or at the door on July 20.
