Midwest Academy of Management

The Webster University George Herbert Walker School of Business & Technology will host the 2018 Midwest Academy of Management conference (MAM) Oct. 11-13 at the Westin St. Louis Hotel and at Webster's Gateway Campus in downtown St. Louis.

The conference theme, "The Spirit of Community: Academics and Practitioners Collaborating to Improve our Future," draws upon the spirit of St. Louis heritage.

Attendees will have more than 100 management-related papers and symposiums to choose from, with conference tracks in categories such as strategy, leadership, human resources, diversity and inclusion, leadership and ethics, organizational behavior and development, supply chain, and health care and hospitality.

The event has also created local opportunities for Webster faculty to present and Webster students to network with other doctoral candidates from universities across the MAM region.

Simone Cummings, dean of the Walker School, will be the Webster University host. She is accompanied by MAM 2018 site coordinator John P. Orr, who is associate professor of management in the Walker School, and Denise Harrell, director of recruitment and program for the Walker School. Orr and Harrell are working closely with Carolyn Wiley, a Roosevelt University professor of management who is also the current MAM president.

The opening Thursday events will be based out of the Arcade Building at Webster's Gateway campus. The Westin St. Louis will be the host site for programming on Friday and Saturday.
