Department of Music presents 'Bach, Brahms, and the Beatles' Featuring Faculty Member Matt Pickart

The Webster University Department of Music presents 'Bach, Brahms, and the Beatles' on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m., in Winifred Moore Auditorium. The event features Matt Pickart, violin and viola, in his debut faculty recital at Webster. Admission is $10, $5 for seniors, and free to all students.

Pickart, who joined the faculty in Fall 2018, teaches violin, viola, improvisation, and music entrepreneurship. He is also the director and co-founder of Clazz International Music Festival in Arcidosso, Italy, which is a summer opportunity for classically-trained musicians to learn how to improvise through the context of jazz. Pickart has also performed with Grammy nominated Quartet San Francisco as guest violist on their 2017 European tour, Barry Manilow on tour, Bernadette Peters, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Ritmo Flamenco, and many other ensembles.

About the recital, Pickart states, “I am very excited to present this program of three monumental Bs in music history for my first faculty recital at Webster. It represents a snapshot into the vast world of music that shapes and influences my life and career.” The program also reflects Pickart’s commitment to collaboration: “I'm honored to collaborate with Professors Daniel Schene, Paul Demarinis, Kim Portnoy, and Ben Wheeler on this concert. Please join us on Feb. 26 to celebrate great music!”.
