The May Gallery Juried Worldwide Call for Webster Student Entries in Annual Juried Photo Exhibition

Entries for the 2016-2017 Annual Juried Photography Show are now being accepted. All currently enrolled Webster students are eligible, as well as students who were enrolled in 2016.

The exhibition will run in the May Gallery from March 24-April 28. A reception and awards presentation will be held on Friday, March 24, 5-7 p.m.

Any work that involves a photographic process is welcomed, but the work must have been produced during the past year, and while a student at Webster. Work may be matted or mounted, or have a sufficient border to be hung under glass.

A border of at least 1 1/2 inches or 3 1/2-4 cm. is suggested. Work must be unframed and ready to hang. Outside dimensions should be 8x10", 8 1/2x11", 11x14", 11x17", 13x19", 16x20", 17x22" or 20x24". Other sizes will only be considered if glass is available in the May Gallery supply storage, or the student supplies glass for hanging. Submissions by students from international campuses in metric sizes will be accommodated. A maximum of four pieces per individual may be submitted. No fees are required.

Work should be sent to May Gallery Juried Show Entries, Webster University, 470 East Lockwood Ave., St. Louis MO 63119. Shipping address for all other carriers is 40 North Rock Hill Rd., St. Louis, MO 63119.

Work may also be left with Emily Immer, outside Sverdrup 235, on the St. Louis campus.

Deadline for submission is Thursday, March 16, at 4:30 p.m. Remember, this is a juried show.

Work exhibited and awards will be selected by an independent outside jury. There is no guarantee that every piece submitted will be exhibited.

Submissions must include:

  • Student’s name
  • Student's Phone number
  • Student's Email
  • Campus location, if not Webster Groves
  • Title of the piece, if any, legibly written on, or securely attached to the back of each piece.

Failure to include this information will disqualify the work from consideration by the jury. Work submitted should be protected in a box, case, or suitable envelope with the student's name on the outside of the package.

If you are interested in having your work reproduced in a catalog accompanying the show, send a file attachment, sized approximately 1200x1800 pixels to mgallery@webster.edu. It must be the same image as you submit for the exhibition; be sure your name is part of the file name. Only images selected by the jurors will be considered for publication.

Photos not selected for the show may be picked up in the gallery beginning Monday, March 28. Photos that are in the show may be picked up in the gallery beginning Monday, May 2. Photos not picked up by Thursday, June 1 will be discarded. Entries from outside St. Louis will be returned by post to the campus of origin.

Prizes will be awarded for Best of Show and First, Second and Third Place. In addition, there is a cash purchase award for the Best of Show winner.
